Traditions of South Tyrol

Hospitality & harmony in the mountains
Certosa (Karthaus) is a picturesque village with 14th-century cloisters that nestles in the tranquil, German-speaking Senales Valley.

We recommend spending one of your nights in the hotel's Bella Vista mountain refuge (available from late June onwards; please organise and pay locally).

Hotel Zur Goldenen Rose (4*), Certosa

Meal arrangements: breakfast & dinner

Hotel Zur Goldenen Rose
Located in the centre of this attractive village, this charming hotel combines style and understated elegance with cosiness and intimacy. There are just 22 rooms, all decorated individually in warm, earthy colours with traditional wooden furniture. We reserve the 'comfort' rooms, or you can choose to upgrade to a superior or deluxe room, or even a suite. The facilities include a tranquil reading room and sauna, but you will probably find yourselves gravitating towards the atmospheric bar, which is popular with locals, and the Stube (wood-panelled lounge) complete with 300-year-old skittles game. What really makes this hotel, however, is the hospitality of hosts Paul and Steffi Grüner, who pride themselves on their attentive service and their well-crafted Tyrolean cuisine served in the hotel's excellent restaurant. The Grüners are also happy to share with you their passion for and knowledge of their local area.

Bella Vista Refuge, Maso Corto

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Bella Vista Refuge
Far from being a crude shack, this refuge is a well-appointed chalet with all the comforts of home including a kitchen serving regional specialities and a Stube  (lounge) providing a cosy atmosphere for having a quiet night cap and sharing your experiences with other guests.
