If you’d prefer something in between, we recommend Corfu or the Cyclades.
  • Our single-centre walking holiday on Crete promises a wide choice of ways to explore the island's beautiful western side. You don't have to be a seasoned hiker to take on our suggested routes – which range from gentle strolls of approximately 5km to more rewarding walks of over 10km – but there are definitely options to interest keener hikers, too, including a foray into the famed Samaria Gorge. You'll also have the option to explore by car, and to visit Chania's fascinating Old Town.
  • Expect to cover approximately 10-15km a day on our walking holidays in Corfu and the Cyclades, and to take in a real variety of terrain. In Corfu, you'll walk on ancient coastal paths, traverse wooded nature reserves, and climb through olive groves to pretty villages, while on the Cyclades, inviting paths lead along sandy beaches to secluded bays, and follow cobbled mule trails across rugged hills for superb, far-reaching views.
  • Highly rewarding coastal walks are the essence of our hotel-to-hotel walking holiday on Crete. As you make your way along the island's south-west coast, you'll walk on panoramic mountain trails, across sandy beaches, through dramatic gorges, and along winding coastal paths. The average distance is 13km per day, and significant ascent and descent are involved.

  • The temperature in Greece can change depending on the season and region.

    In summer (June to September), it can be very hot, with temperatures often reaching 30-35°C or more. Especially in the southern islands and coastal areas.

    Spring (April to May) and autumn (October) are cooler, with temperatures between 15-25°C, making them great for walking holidays.

    Expect hot days in summer, but also cooler mornings and evenings, especially in the mountains. Always bring sun protection, a hat, and lots of water to stay comfortable.
  • We offer more challenging hikes within our selection of trips in Greece. These are graded 2-3, which is moderate-to-challenging. The Walking Crete's South-West Coast holiday will take you up mountain trails, through dramatic gorges and along coastal trails, offering varied terrain throughout. You'll cover between 10km to 17.5km each day.
  • Your trip details will outline the included meals, with breakfast provided daily to fuel your walks. Some holidays also feature picnics and dinners on select days, offering a delicious taste of local Greek cuisine, lovingly prepared as you journey through the region.
  • For your holiday, pack lightweight, breathable clothing, sturdy walking shoes, and a small daypack for essentials. You'll need a water bottle, a small first aid kit, and any necessary medications. Don’t forget sun protection, from a hat and sunglasses to high-SPF sunscreen. Walking a coastal route? Bring swimwear for beach stops.
