If you've experienced this holiday first hand, why not write a review?
We are keen for as many customers as possible to review their holiday. To make it easier to do so, we include a specific review section on our post-holiday questionnaire, and this is what we publish here, unedited. Read our full review policy >
This was my first holiday with Inntravel and I was thoroughly impressed with all aspects. The organisation and customer service were first class. The holiday itself was hugely enjoyable. I found the walks very manageable, though there were a couple of slightly tough ascents, especially the Weisshorn on day one. Maybe that was just due to not having acclimatised to extra altitude.
Recommendations if you would like to add extra days:
- Radein if you would like to enjoy more of the blissfully peaceful surroundings. There are also many good walking possibilities.
- Kohlern if you would like to have a whole day sightseeing in Bolzano (including Otzi at the Archaeological Museum) and also do the enjoyable Earth Pyramids walk
- Kastellruth to do the recommended walks and also do a side tour to Ortisei. If you do the latter, make sure you also take the cable car from there to Seceda for some wonderful views from 2,500 metres of some of the larger Dolomite peaks. You can walk some of the trails when you’re up there or just enjoy the view from a mountain restaurant.
Dinner is included at the first three of the four hotels. The food was delicious and incorporated local ingredients to great effect. The local wines were excellent, especially the whites. The Zirmerhof gave me a complimentary bottle of their own wine when I checked out, a really nice touch. All in all, a wonderful trip. Thoroughly recommended.
An amazing holiday. Inntravel's organisation and choices were perfect. The walks were well directed and challenging in places, which suited us. The hotels were all great, and inevitably some better than others, but all more than acceptable. We would highly recommend Inntravel.
Another amazing Inntravel trip. Stunning scenery, perfect Fall hiking weather, and beautiful people. Your selections of inn keepers is impressive and so appreciated. Such lovely but personable hospitaility, with multi-generations from the same family. Really special. Incredible locally sourced food and luxurious accommodations. The Dolomite region is only Italy on paper (maps and passports). The people and culture is German, but with an Italian bent. Mostly seen and tasted in the wine. Exceptional food and drink and friendly and helpful hosts. Look forward to our next slow adventure!

Highlights:
-walking through the tall pine forests and coming to an opening with a stunning view.
-the contrast between the steep rocky outcrops and the green lush pastures.
-the "rest day" in Bolzano. Using cable cars and trams which give you a different aspect of the area.
You mention good footwear maybe specify ankle supported walking boots. People might think that trekking trainers are suitable enough for the terrain.
An interesting and varied week. The contrast of the hike to the top of the Weisshorn with the hike up the Bletterbach Canyon and then exploring the top of the Puflatschalm plateau with its awesome views of the Dolomites to the east was tremendous. Both the Berghotel Zirmerhof in Radein and the Gasthof Kohlern above Bolzano were wonderful in every respect, particularly the panoramic views and the meals.
Perhaps including walks including visiting lakes rather than staying nights there would be our preference but do appreciate this may not be possible. Our group really enjoyed the mix of staying more than 1 night at most locations and probably prefer more options of visiting local restaurants in the towns ie Kastelruth (perhaps San Candido). Having said that the meals at Kohlern, Saalen and Moso (probably the best) were fantastic.
Overall, all 11 of us, really enjoyed the walk and thought the instructions, documentation, itinerary and the ability of Inntravel to tailor our additional walk requests was exceptional.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: This party combined elements of our 'Towards the Dolomites' and 'Dolomites' Three Peaks' walking holidays
This was yet another outstanding holiday in a glorious part of Italy. The Seiser Alm map sent in advance offered a free digital download, and I'd recommend future customers try to register with Kompass to have access to all their maps and GPS tracking. I have paid 8.99€ (or something like that) for an annual subscription to all their maps - useful for future holidays! The Zirmerhof, Kohlern and Kastelruth hotels were outstanding, and the food, welcome and facilities beyond our expectations. We feel thorougly refreshed and reinvigorated.
Gorgeous scenery, with the meadows full of flowers. The trip greatly exceeded our expectations. Food was almost without exception very high level - we expected sauerkraut and sausages but got five star cuisine. The hoteliers all made us feel very welcome, even though our German doesn’t extend beyond Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. Hard to pick out a personal highlight because it was all wonderful.
One of our best-ever Inntravel trips, though with hindsight and if travel arrangements had made the timings feasible we would have skipped the stay in Verona and gone straight to the first hotel, which was one of the best - and in one of the best locations - we have ever stayed in. This is a fantastic area for well- waymarked walking, with stunning scenery, attractive villages and towns, and good food.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: These customers enjoyed our Verona City add-on before our Towards the Dolomites self-guided walking holiday.
A great walk - challenging in parts but not overly demanding. Great views and pleasant, friendly hotels. We added 3 nights in Venice at Ca’Nigra which was wonderful. One of our best trips with Inntravel.
This was one of the best holidays we have ever taken. The walking was beautiful, the hotels were wonderful, the people friendly and helpful, the directions well laid out. I will never forget walking up the hill to the St. Valentine church at the top, with a clear blue sky, to discover a man playing the Ave Maria on his bugle. The sound of the music, the beauty of the 12th century church surrounded by the Dolomites, and the wonderful feeling of being a little tired after walking all day moved us close to tears.
The hotels were wonderful - restful, friendly people, wonderful food. A dip in a pool after a day's walk was a treat. We even got to have a wine tasting with a local vintner one night.
One thing to know - one should not undertake this hike without being in shape. Some of the hikes are quite steep and the going rough - just remember all the views are worth the effort! Can't wait for the next walk!
