Inntravel walking holidays are relaxed affairs – not just easy terrain, but easy arrangements too. We book charming hotels, and provide our thoroughly researched route notes – plus luggage transfers if you’re walking from hotel to hotel – so that you can explore self-guided at entirely your own pace.
Our gentle-to-moderate walking holidays are aimed at people who are not necessarily seasoned walkers, but who can nevertheless manage walks of several miles over relatively easy terrain – we put the emphasis on getting to know the region, not bagging peaks, and encourage you to revel in the details: unusual architecture, the flowers, the birds… You’ve no luggage to encumber you, and no group either, so it’s you who sets the pace and decides when to pause.
You can trust us to hand-pick accommodation of character and to provide accurate route notes that not only guide you there but also point out good picnic spots and worthwhile detours to viewpoints, so relax and enjoy…
Inntravel offers five different levels of walking holiday, with those at the lower end suitable for occasional walkers of average fitness. To be sure that our easy-to-moderate (grade 1-2) walking holidays are right for you, read our grading system below.
Generally easy walking with few ascents / descents, but perhaps the occasional long day.
Easy-to-moderate walking with some ascents / descents, and occasional longer days.
Moderate walking on varied terrain, with some long days and regular ascents / descents.
Moderate-to-challenging walking on more rugged terrain with significant ascents / descents on most days. Compass skills may be required (check the individual holiday).
Challenging hikes, featuring long days with significant ascent / descent on challenging terrain. Compass skills may be required.
Choice of easier or harder routes, so that you can tailor most days to your requirements.
What to expect from your Inntravel walking holiday
There are three essential ingredients to our walking holidays (and, indeed, all Inntravel holidays): alluring scenery; charming, carefully selected accommodation; and traditional regional cuisine.
Comprehensive route notes
We take great pride in our route guides, updating them constantly so that you have the most current information and can enjoy the richest possible holiday experience. Walking at a pace that suits you, you can rely on them to steer you from A to B, and fill you in about places of interest and local culture along the way.
The freedom of independence
If you value independent travel and hotels of character, you’re in the right company. With Inntravel, you set your own holiday start date, duration (you can add extra nights at any hotel) and preferred travel route (by train, plane or ferry). Talk to us and we’ll make your personalised holiday plans and travel arrangements happen.
We’ve built up a wealth of experience since we started in 1984. Whether you’ve got a query or wish to book a holiday, you’ll deal with friendly experts who share a passion for travel and who have stayed in our featured hotels and walked our routes. They’ll be delighted to answer your questions and help you plan your perfect holiday.
