If cross-country skiing is your passion, you can ski to your heart’s content through some of Europe’s best – and most beautiful – domains, while beginners can learn at their own pace in relaxed surroundings. At the end of the day, relax in a charming hotel and savour delicious regional cuisine.
The friendliness of fellow skiers, the feeling of being close to nature, and the chance to fully take in your surroundings make cross-country skiing holidays very rewarding. If you’ve never tried it, we recommend that you do – the joy of being out in the snow, cross-country skiing through silent forests and past pretty villages, is hard to beat! Inntravel has been offering cross-country skiing holidays since 1985, seeking out villages with well-organised domains where you can ski cross-country through magnificent scenery.
Finding the best cross-country skiing holiday in Europe for you
We offer cross-country skiing holidays in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Norway and Finland. Some of the largest domains can be found in Ylläs in Finland, Sils in Switzerland, Leutasch in Austria, and our chosen Norwegian villages, making them good choices if you plan to spend most of your time cross-country skiing.
Travelling from outside the UK?
To give you a good idea of how we can tailor our trips to your individual requirements, take a look at the section of the website specifically devoted to travellers from outside the UK.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to get the low-down on Inntravel holidays from someone who has first-hand experience, you can email Phil Wise. Based in California, Phil has taken many trips with us over the years, and will be happy to give you general information about travelling to Europe and the overall Inntravel holiday experience from an American perspective.
How our cross-country skiing holidays are graded
Whatever your level, from beginner to advanced, we have a cross-country skiing holiday in Europe to suit you. Some villages have mostly easy trails, while others cater for more experienced skiers, so we describe who the skiing is best suited to as follows:
No previous experience; requires lessons. Should stick to green trails for cross-country skiing or nursery slopes for downhill skiing.
Has limited previous experience and is au fait with the basics, but not yet completely confident. Able to cope with most blue routes.
Has skied before and technique is now sufficiently honed to tackle red routes with confidence.
Highly experienced. Able to cope with the most difficult of trails/pistes (those graded black).
Cross-country skiing holidays, Inntravel style
There are three cornerstones to our cross-country skiing holidays (and Inntravel holidays in general): impressive scenery; warmly welcoming, hand-picked hotels of character; and excellent cuisine.
Reliable local information
To enrich your holiday experience, we provide you with practical, up-to-date information – for example, about the activities available in the vicinity and the opening times of hire shops and ice rinks – as well as an overview of local culture and history, and suggestions of interesting places you may wish to visit.
An Inntravel holiday allows you considerable flexibility. We can book flights from your preferred airport, or rail travel all the way from London to the Alps. We can also arrange a room upgrade, ski hire and lessons, or add on a city break to start or end your snow holiday in style. It’s up to you…
Inntravel has been exploring winter snow destinations since 1985, so our down-to-earth experts are familiar with the features that make up a great holiday and are keen to share their in-depth knowledge of our featured villages and hotels with you. They’ll be happy to offer well-honed advice and help you get the most out of your snow holiday.
