Our "Stroll in the Italian Dolomites" was an excellent holiday. Hotel La Perla provides excellent accomodation; our room was comfortable, with a lot of space, whilst the meals were consistently first rate. There was a wide and varied menu choice and a different menu every day. Their shuttle bus service into the village or to the cable car stations was so convenient, with never a wait of more than 5 minutes. Our walks had to be limited but the gentle walks from the tops of the cable cars were beautiful giving a real taste of Alpine scenery. We chose not to fly but used the NightJet rail service from Amsterdam to Innsbruck and then a local train, all booked by Inntravel. We would strongly recommend the rail option; the cabins are small but comfortable and well designed and a breakfast is provided. To reach Amsterdam, from N.E. England, we used the ferry out of Newcastle which provided a comfortable night in good cabins. Our holiday began as we sailed out of the Tyne. So for anyone living in Northern England or Scotland, this is a very good option.
We also had 2 nights in Innsbruck on our return journey. This proved to be very rewarding; a very interesting city to visit -- our short stay was not really enough. Hotel Maximilian was a very good place to be based; comfortable and very central with easy access to the main sights and a wide choice of restaurants.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: This customer did our Discovery Walking holiday 'A Stroll in the Italian Dolomites', staying at Hotel La Perla, followed by our city add-on in Innsbruck.
The Stroll in the Dolomites was a real success. Staying at the Hotel La Perla meant that we were removed from the busy village of Ortisei but with ready access by means of the shuttle, always available at short notice. The friendly staff, facilities, food, service - all were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the pool facilities - with great views too - and the restaurant meals of such good quality and variety, not to mention the variety of buffet extras ( salads, fruit etc). Afternoon cake was a bonus and the food at the hotel breakfast and dinner was so generous , we didn't bother with any lunch.
We only did 2 of the lower level walks ( back to back, as they were not long) and particularly liked the short walk up to the Cafe Anna ( open early) through the trees. The high level walks mean the expense of the cable cars/lifts but they were totally worth the money. We were blessed with incredibly good weather - cloudless blue skies, temperatures in the low twenties - and the stunning mountains were a photographer's dream, even better than we had anticipated.
We used the Innsbruck add-on at the beginning of the holiday and were very pleased with the Hotel Maximilian ( especially as they gave us an upgrade!), conveniently central.
This was a brilliant trip - congratulaions to Inntravel for organising such a dense itinerary. We did not want to fly and were fortunate to have the time to add add a third week onto a 2 centre (2 week) holiday. It was a pleasure to use the mainland European trains and visit 4 additional cities in the process. Though 8 hotels in 3 weeks sounded a bit daunting the whole experience was relaxed and enjoyable. We would certainly recommend travel exclusively by rail as planned so efficiently by Inntravel.

The Leutasch Valley, Lake Achensee and Innsbruck are a really nice combination. All the hotels were first class, the walking was excellent and the scenery often stunning and by adding on extra days it could all be done at a leisurely pace. The weather varied, but it was never too hot and when it rained it could pour ... but only for a couple of hours. And the full sunny days were glorious. In short, a delighfully balanced holiday.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: This customer combined our walking holidays 'The Leutasch Valley' and 'Lake Achensee & its Mountains' with our city add-on in Innsbruck.
Moso - We loved the relaxed atmosphere and exceptional food at the Drei Zinnen. The staff were welcoming and friendly and I wish I could wake to that view every day! The hotel was spotlessly clean and ideally placed for access to all of the local activities, with plenty for both skiers and non -skiers alike to occupy themselves with. I would heartily recommend it to anyone.
Innsbruck - The staff at the Hotel Maximillian were efficient and helpful. I'm not sure I have ever seen such a clean hotel- the bathroom positively glistened! The breakfast offered both quantity and quality, with a wide choice of typical continental breakfast foods, plus very tasty egg, bacon and sausage for the cooked breakfast fans. Ideally situated for exploring the old town, there was a wide range of restaurants and bars within a short distance and transfer to the airport was very simple, given the taxi rank across the road.
