Winter snow breaks in Austria

Featuring family-run 4-star hotels, our snow holidays in Austria for 2023/24 offer both skiing and non-skiing activities. Appreciate the snow-clad scenery while winter walking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or downhill skiing at quiet villages, or take things even easier, opting instead for horse-drawn sleigh rides and cultural visits.

Winter holidays in Austria for non-skiers

as well as skiers
Our winter holidays in Austria aren’t your average snow holiday. While we offer a wide range of cross-country skiing holidays in Austria, and cater for alpine skiers as well, our Slow holiday philosophy means that our focus is on enjoying the scenery, and that needn’t involve skiing. We choose quiet, unspoiled villages, most of which offer winter walking, snowshoeing and other non-skiing activities.

Choose the right snow holiday in Austria for your level

Cross-country skiing in Austria is excellent, with well-organised trails and majestic scenery. You can enjoy a cross-country skiing holiday in Austria whatever your level – our chosen villages cater well for beginners right through to experienced skiers. We describe who the skiing is best suited to using the terms below. Winter walking and snowshoeing trails are not graded.
  • No previous experience; requires lessons. Should stick to green trails for cross-country skiing or nursery slopes for downhill skiing.
  • Has skied before and technique is now sufficiently honed to tackle red routes with confidence.
  • Highly experienced. Able to cope with the most difficult of trails/pistes (those graded black).
