On a self-guided cycling holiday in Germany, we provide a high-quality bike, our carefully researched route notes and maps, and luggage transfers, so that you can pedal from one hotel of character at a pace that suits you.
Our cycling holidays in Germany – in keeping with our Slow holiday philosophy – are as much about the cultural treasures along the way as about the cycling. Our perfectly planned routes (described in easy-to-read notes) allow plenty of time to appreciate them. And because there’s no group, no arrangements to make (we do all that), and no luggage to worry about, you can be spontaneous, stopping to visit a church or a museum, or to picnic by the water.
To discover whimsical castles, Baroque churches and sparkling lakes framed by mountains, opt for our cycling holiday in Bavaria. If you prefer coastal scenery, head instead to the sunny island of Rügen, whose coastline of white-sand beaches, chalk cliffs and nostalgic fishing villages holds a surprise around almost every bend. Whichever you choose, you will experience some of the best cycling in Germany. Alternatively, see our Germany page for the full range of walking, cycling, touring and snow holidays in Germany.

Are our cycling holidays in Germany right for you?
To be sure that our cycling holidays in Germany – which boasts a cycle-friendly culture – are right for you, take a look at the definitions of our cycling grades below. Electric bikes (e-bikes) are available as an upgrade if you would like the option of getting a boost now and again. (Our grading system assumes you are using a ‘regular’ bike, so if you choose an e-bike, bear in mind that the cycling will be considerably easier.)
Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents.
Easy-to-moderate cycling featuring undulating routes with more frequent short ascents, and a mix of shorter and longer days.
Moderate cycling with some longer, steady uphill sections, and longer days.
Fairly strenuous cycling featuring longer days with some sustained climbs.
What to expect from your cycling holiday in Germany
There are three main ingredients which feature in all Inntravel holidays, including our cycling holidays in Germany: captivating landscapes; delightful hotels hand-picked for their welcome; and tasty local cuisine.
Reliable route notes
Lovingly compiled in-house, our route guides contain all the information you need to get from A to B independently, without missing out on the things that make for a full and varied holiday experience, such as the stories behind local customs and monuments. Updated constantly, they are totally reliable and like your own personal guide.
Your holiday, your way
Independent holidays offer so much more freedom than a group holiday. Pick a start date to suit you, build in extra nights at any hotel along the route, choose how you travel – by air, rail or ferry – and from where. You’ll also get to experience smaller, more intimate hotels and, best of all, you can be entirely spontaneous as you explore.
We’ve been offering holidays since 1984 and have built up a wealth of experience. Whenever you contact us, you’ll deal with friendly experts who share a passion for travel and who have stayed in our featured hotels and cycled our routes. They’ll be delighted to answer your queries and help you plan your perfect holiday.
