Our journeys by train and boat – non-group, self-guided holidays – are the perfect way to discover a region up close. Enjoy thrilling rides on spectacular Alpine railways, or take to the mirror-like waters of the Norwegian fjords. We organise the travel and provide detailed documentation, leaving you free to explore.
Our flexible journeys by train and boat follow much the same format as our other holidays, allowing you plenty of time to ‘get under the skin’ of each place you visit, meeting local people and becoming familiar with local customs along the way. Although these holidays are self-guided, we take care of all the arrangements so, when the time comes to move on to the next charming location, you can simply sit back and watch the beautiful scenery slide past your window.
To give you a good idea of how we can tailor our trips to your individual requirements, take a look at the section of the website specifically devoted to travellers from outside the UK.
What to expect from your journey by train or boat
We believe that a memorable touring holiday involves three key ingredients – interesting and varied routes through enchanting scenery, yes, but also characterful accommodation where you’ll find a warm welcome and delicious regional cuisine.
Carefully crafted itineraries
These are regions we know well. We have selected the best places to stay, and can recommend the most delicious places to eat and the most rewarding places to visit. We also know the best way to get from A to B (without missing out on C). You can trust our itineraries to show you the highlights in the most practical way.
As flexible as possible
The fact that we handle each enquiry separately means that we can shape your trip to meet your needs. You can combine it with a stay at another Inntravel hotel – or even another holiday – and add extra nights if you wish. Do get in touch to discuss your holiday plans; we’ll be only too happy to help.
Documentation you can rely on
There’s no need for a guide: our carefully compiled information pack is your guide. It includes background cultural information, practical advice and those all-important detailed directions, plus recommendations on where to go and what to do – all written by our travel experts who have done all the hard work for you.
