Walking holidays in Italy

Delight your senses on a self-guided, non-group walking holiday in Italy, on which you walk from one inviting hotel to the next while your luggage is transported, or explore from a single base. We provide you with our tried-and-tested route notes, leaving you free to walk at your own pace.

Walking holidays in Italy –

a feast for the eyes (and stomach)
Frescoed churches, Renaissance art, family-run vineyards and, of course, mouth-watering cuisine, mean that our walking holidays in Italy are about more than walking. We actively encourage you to delight in the details – a graceful villa, a rippling wheat field – which is what Slow holidays are all about. And since you’re not with a group, and have no luggage (we transfer it between hotels), you can do just that, following our comprehensive route notes at your own pace.

Holidaying in Italy

If you would like to plan a walking, cycling or touring holiday in Italy for 2021, we are accepting bookings for next year as normal, with the added bonus that prices remain unchanged from 2020. In the hope that the current travel restrictions will be eased before the end of the 2021 winter season, we are also accepting bookings for snow holidays, provided that you are booking at least 6 weeks ahead.

How our walking holidays in Italy are graded

Inntravel has been offering Italian walking holidays since 1994, meaning we know the best regions, the most scenic paths and the friendliest hotels. We cater for all levels, from gentle strolls to high-mountain hikes, so decide what grade is best suited to you, and whether you’d like to walk from hotel to hotel or from a single centre, and take it from there.
  • Generally easy walking with few ascents / descents, but perhaps the occasional long day.
  • Easy-to-moderate walking with some ascents / descents, and occasional longer days.
  • Moderate walking on varied terrain, with some long days and regular ascents / descents.
  • Moderate-to-challenging walking on more rugged terrain with significant ascents / descents on most days. Compass skills may be required (check the individual holiday).
  • Challenging hikes, featuring long days with significant ascent / descent on challenging terrain. Compass skills may be required.
  • Choice of easier or harder routes, so that you can tailor most days to your requirements.
