Moderate-to-challenging cycling holidays

If you like longer, hillier routes, our self-guided moderate-to-challenging cycling holidays are for you. Equipped with a high-quality bike and lovingly researched route notes, you pedal at your own pace from one delightful hotel to another, while your luggage is transferred.

Moderate-to-challenging cycling holidays

for ‘amateur’ cyclists
While all Inntravel cycling holidays are designed for ‘amateur’ cyclists, we recognise that some prefer more cycling than others, and so offer a small number of grade 2-3 holidays featuring fuller days in the saddle and more dramatic scenery. Although the routes are generally longer, it’s still you who sets the pace, and there’s time for cultural visits along the way, so you won’t miss out on the castles, archaeological sites or markets.
What’s more, you usually spend two nights at each welcoming hotel, giving you the chance to explore each location some more (our meticulously compiled route notes provide suggestions and, because you’re not in a group, the choice is yours).

How Inntravel cycling holidays are graded

Inntravel offers four different levels of cycling holiday, all aimed at ‘amateur’ cyclists. To be sure that our moderate-to-challenging cycling holidays (grade 2-3) are right for you, check our grading system below. (Or you can upgrade to an electric bike for help on hills and longer routes.)
  • Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents.
  • Easy-to-moderate cycling featuring undulating routes with more frequent short ascents, and a mix of shorter and longer days.
  • Moderate cycling with some longer, steady uphill sections, and longer days.
  • Fairly strenuous cycling featuring longer days with some sustained climbs.
