Extend your stay
As a contrast to the countryside, why not add-on a couple of nights to your holiday to explore the elegant city of Palma, before catching your flight home?
About Mallorca >Mallorca is distinctly Mediterranean in character, both in its ways of life and its landscapes. What is most astonishing is the variety of scenery on such a relatively small island. At its heart lies a gently rolling plain whose almond groves provide a beautiful display of blossom each spring. This is bordered to the south and east by the hills which frame the island’s rugged, lesser-known coastline, while to the north rises the Tramuntana Sierra, whose craggy limestone peaks plunge into the sea. Aleppo pines, holm oaks, olives, carob and orange trees predominate, the latter bearing their main crop in January. The island’s gastronomy is excellent, the sea providing a range of fish – one of the most popular of which is sea-bass, sometimes baked in rock-salt – and seafood. Savour dishes such as caldereta de sambfaina, a lobster casserole; sopa mallorquina, made with bread, garlic and leeks; the ratatouille-style tumbet; and llom amb col – pork and pine nuts wrapped in cabbage leaves.

This Holiday in a nutshell
  • self-guided hotel-to-hotel cycling, luggage transported
  • gentle discovery of unspoiled Mallorca
  • richly varied landscapes and sweeping views
  • stay in delightful country hotels, both with a pool

Quiet lanes wind their way through the patchwork patterns of ancient farms, linking agricultural villages that reveal Mallorca’s genuine face. This is a side of the island that few tourists experience, and cycling here is a true delight, especially when combined with our selection of enchanting agroturismos, intimate country estates now offering comfortable rooms, outdoor pools and delicious home-cooked food. According to the season, expect to enjoy the freshest of vegetables and fruit produced on this abundant isle.
You can expect an effusive welcome at both these agroturismos – you are made to feel like one of the family, and dinners are very convivial affairs.

This highly praised, relaxed cycling route leads you from the Migjorn, the unspoiled coastal plain of sand dunes and salt flats, towards the rural heart of the island through the rolling inland plain known as Es Pla: a landscape of tiny farms, slowly turning windmills, and pretty villages with bustling market days that has remained unchanged for centuries. There is ample opportunity to settle into the local pace and linger over a picnic on the beach, a coffee and delicious local pastry at a pavement café or a long Mediterranean lunch…enjoy!
