Glorious Gozo

Malta’s tranquil neighbour
This Holiday in a nutshell
  • self-guided, single-centre walking holiday
  • varied choice of walks
  • stunning coastal scenery
  • get about by bus – no car needed

As if lulled by the cerulean sea that laps its shores, Gozo is as unhurried an island as you can imagine, a bucolic place where old traditions are cherished and the pastoral way of life is rooted firmly in home, family and church.

No wonder even the Maltese come here on holiday – you can feel the pace of life plummet the moment you step off the ferry at Mgarr harbour.
The Guardian

Myriad paths criss-cross the island’s terraced slopes which rise to narrow fingers of tableland, capped by Italianate churches and honey-coloured stone villages. Pasturing goats, small allotments and a riot of spring flowers fill the lower valleys with a seasonal hum of both bees and man. Never far from the sea, the fertile farmland tumbles towards dramatic cliffs interspersed by idyllic bays where you can bathe in warm weather. Our suggested walks explore most corners of the island, with the natural and man-made features of the landscape – from strange rock formations to an emerald-coloured ‘inland sea’ and from Neolithic temples to ancient salt pans – ensuring that no two feel the same.
