Great Swiss Lakes

Through the heart of Switzerland by rail
You stay in three high-quality hotels, each well located for exploration of the surrounding area.

Hotel Suisse Majestic (4*), Montreux

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Hotel Suisse Majestic
Superbly located a stone’s throw away from the lakeside promenade in one direction and Montreux railway station in the other, the Suisse Majestic dates back to 1870. Although it is a thoroughly modern hotel in terms of its facilities (which include a sauna, fitness room, wifi and air-conditioning) and levels of comfort, it retains the elegance and generous proportions that characterise hotels built during the Belle Epoque. The spectacular terrace-bar is a popular meeting point and, along with the well-regarded restaurant, shares views across Lake Geneva to the French Alps.

Hotel Victoria (3*), Meiringen

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Hotel Victoria
You can expect a warm welcome from Franzika and Simon Anderegg to their modern-style hotel situated in the centre of this picturesque village which nestles in a broad valley at the head of Lake Brienz. The light and bright twin and double bedrooms are very comfortable or you can choose to upgrade to a superior room with views over the Rosenlaui Glacier. Dinner, however, is the highlight of your stay here, as Simon is a very accomplished chef, mixing his love of international cuisine with locally sourced ingredients.

Hotel Wilden Mann (4*), Lucerne

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Hotel Wilden Mann
This sophisticated 4-star hotel dates back to the early 16th century and has been cleverly created from 7 original townhouses. Located within a stone's throw of the banks of the River Reuss in the historic centre of the town, the hotel is just a short walk from Lake Lucerne and the station. Your stay is on a bed-and-breakfast basis, but the hotel does have two very good restaurants and there are numerous alternatives nearby. The bedrooms are all individually decorated and have twin or double beds.

Boutique Hotel La Rinascente (3*), Locarno

Optional add-on
Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Boutique Hotel La Rinascente
This fifteen-room hotel is housed in a beautifully renovated building dating from the mid-16th century, and is located on a quiet street just a stone’s throw from Locarno's Piazza Grande. Bedrooms are elegant in style, combining modern facilities with historic features, and on fine days breakfast is taken in a secluded courtyard beside the restaurant, which is known for its creative cuisine, impressive vaulted ceilings and original frescoes.

Accommodation
At a glance
Starting point: Hotel Suisse Majestic, Montreux
Day 1: Hotel Suisse Majestic, Montreux
Days 2-4: Hotel Victoria, Meiringen
Days 5-6: Hotel Wilden Mann, Lucerne
Extend your stay
Add a three-night stay in the beautiful, Italianate town of Locarno for relaxation and sightseeing on and around the shoreline of Lake Maggiore.
Extra nights
We recommend extra nights in Montreux as there are plenty of things to do both in and around the town, as well as on the lake. Lucerne is another good choice so as to have more time to explore the town and the mountains (Rigi and Pilatus).
