From peaks to Prosecco – new holidays for 2026

Two of our Destination Experts, James and Rebecca, joined us live for an exclusive online event for Inntravellers. They gave us their insights into a selection of our newest holidays for this year, including how they created the holidays, picked the hotels and guesthouses, what their highlights are, and what makes the itinerary and walking routes so special.

Webinar Q&A

  • We have recently launched our new Via Francigena holiday, which James covered in more detail during the webinar. However, it only covers the last 100km: from Montefiascone to Rome. You can find this holiday here: https://www.inntravel.co.uk/walking-holidays/italy/other-regions/via-francigena
  • No, our French Alps & Lake Annecy holiday is a hotel-to-hotel walking holiday that promises rewarding walking, comfort, and culture. It consists of three 3-star hotels & one 4-star hotel, with the option to upgrade to something a bit more luxurious in two of the three mountain villages.
  • All of our holidays can be combined with others, and we can also help to arrange the connecting travel between them. For this particular holiday, we would recommend combining it with one of our Swiss holidays, as you are most likely to travel via Geneva.

Alternatively, we have in-house European rail specialists who can recommend the best rail routes across Europe. This can make the holiday easy to combine with other French holidays, or even destinations further afield.
  • Only the itinerant day from Le Grand Bornand to Annecy has a potentially vertiginous element, as the path over Mont Veyrier has quite steep drops. The route options in the Aravis mountains themselves are one wide path and tracks with nothing of a vertiginous nature.
  • All Inntravel holidays are self-guided. However, our route notes provide clear, detailed instructions on how to get from A to B, along with information on any points of interest you may pass along the way. We also provide downloadable GPX files, which you can load onto your phone or device to help ensure you stay on track throughout your walk.
  • The elevation profiles are now available on the product page in the itinerary section. You can find them here: www.inntravel.co.uk/walking-holidays/france/the-alps/french-alps-lake-annecy
  • Yes - we suggest the best possible hotels and places to add extra nights along the itinerary or you can add recommended city stays either at the beginning or end of your holiday.
  • Yes, the walking on the Prosecco Hills holiday is mainly a mix of rural lanes, forest paths and countryside tracks and paths. As you might expect, there is some minor road walking on the approach to/from towns and villages, but that is very much the exception.
  • Autumn is unquestionably the best time to visit, as the vines are ready to be harvested and are at their most vibrant. Spring offers a different yet equally rewarding experience, as the countryside comes alive and the vines begin to grow.
  • This particular Algarve holiday (Algarve's inland & Coastal Trails) includes a hire car, so you drive yourself to the start of your walks and between the two stops. Many of our other holidays include taxi transfers as part of the itinerary. You can find a full list of our Portuguese walking holidays here: www.inntravel.co.uk/walking-holidays/portugal
  • Unfortunately, this holiday requires a car due to the distances to our carefully selected routes, sightseeing options and also to drive between the two hotels. That said, if you are looking for holidays to Portugal that do not require car hire, there are plenty of options in the Algarve and other Portuguese regions, which you can find on the link below. Alternatively, feel free to contact our sales team to discuss which holiday might be the right fit for you.

  • Yes, but because you will be exploring entirely independently with the help of detailed route notes, you should be confident at map-reading and ideally have experience of walking alone (if not, we strongly recommend choosing a holiday which passes through lots of villages, rather than in a remote area).

You should also take the usual precautions, such as informing the hotelier of the route you are undertaking that day before setting off, carrying a mobile phone, wearing suitable clothing, and being prepared to turn back if the weather turns foul.
  • James: Puglia's Gargano Peninsula is an excellent choice, especially in springtime when our routes take you through meadows where you'll find the highest concentration of wild orchids anywhere in Europe.

Rebecca: Any of our Madeira holidays in spring (April to June) when flowers such as agapanthus and giant buttercups are in bloom. There is also a flower festival in Funchal at the beginning of May, which celebrates the island's diverse flora and fauna. Hiking along the levadas at this time is ideal, and the many botanical gardens are in full bloom.
  • Lake Constance is a firm favourite with Inntravellers and, as you mention, we provide a guest card that allows free use of local buses and trains in the region.

Our Fife holidays are graded 1, which we class as ‘easy’ walks, and many of the recommended routes make use of Fife’s regular local bus service, payable locally.

Not all of our walking holidays offer the option of using local transport due to their remoteness, but please feel free to contact our travel advisers, who can recommend specific holidays where this is possible.
  • Our holiday in Cornwall explores the region's "forgotten corner". The itinerary is 6 nights, includes breakfast every day, and you will stay in two 4-star hotels, one B&B and one inn. The paths on this trip are easy to follow and are well-maintained. designed to avoid the crowds while showcasing some of the region’s most beautiful coastline. You’ll walk 32 miles over six days, passing rugged cliffs, sandy beaches and peaceful villages, with standout views of Looe Island, Whitsand Bay and Plymouth Sound.
  • Our holiday in Guernsey, Herm & Sark features a stay in the picturesque harbour town of St Peter Port. You’ll follow dramatic cliff paths and quiet lanes linking peaceful beaches, beautiful gardens and historic sites, all away from the crowds. This 4-night trip includes breakfast every day and one dinner. Our customers often combine it with our holiday in Jersey.

The islands combine a distinctly French influence with a familiar British feel, reflected in the food, language and culture. Along the way, you’ll discover remnants of WWII history, abundant wildlife and some of the freshest seafood in the British Isles. Travel is made easy with unlimited use of the local bus network, and opportunities to visit Herm and Sark are included, making this a relaxed celebration of timeless island landscapes and slower-paced walking.
  • We currently only offer one cycle in Germany, where you can ride through the castles & villages of Bavaria. Our holiday expert for Germany is constantly reviewing our range of holidays in this country, but we will be sure to pass your feedback on.
  • Unfortunately, we experienced some issues with one of the hotels due to the impact of Covid on the hospitality industry in the region. We do, however, still offer a short break in the area, which covers the second half of the holiday you mentioned. You can find details of that trip here: www.inntravel.co.uk/walking-holidays/italy/other-regions/barolo
  • Solo travellers can enjoy all of our holidays, with the addition of a single-person supplement. This reflects the cost of sole occupancy of accommodation and can vary depending on the holiday, the hotels selected and the time of year you wish to travel.

Similarly, the cost and arrangements for transfers at the start and end of a holiday can differ depending on the itinerary and travel dates. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, we recommend contacting our Sales Team, who will be very happy to talk through your options and provide a no-obligation quote tailored to your requirements.
