Over 40 years ago, when Richard Hearn founded Inntravel, his vision was to create holidays with meaning. Holidays that add value to the places Inntravellers visit. Holidays that have a lower impact, on the environment, wildlife, and the landscapes we cherish. And holidays that can be a force for good, on the communities and businesses in the destinations we visit.

This laid the foundations for our journey to B Corp and we’re delighted to have met the high standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability needed.
And, it's an integral part of our journey towards achieving a more sustainable way to travel; a journey we’re proud to be undertaking with a growing global community of like-minded businesses who are equally committed to having a positive impact.

It represents a movement to transform our economic system into positive outcomes for all: workers, communities, customers, and the environment.
The goal is to make businesses, across all industries and around the world, a powerful force for good.
Certified B Corporations are at the forefront of this global effort for an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable economy.
Earning our B Corp certification is a key milestone or us, meaning we’ve met the rigorous standards of performance, accountability, and transparency, addressing areas such as employee benefits, charitable contributions, and supply chain practices.
We're delighted to have achieved an Overall B Impact Score of 91.7 - way above the 80 required to become B Corp (and above the median business score of 50.9).
I’m absolutely delighted that Inntravel is now B Corp Certified! Inntravel was founded over 40 years ago on principles that align so closely to the B Corp community and environment goals - our type of travel is about visiting other peoples' places and experiencing their way of life – and to do so with care and responsibility. And since our inception, we have built our business in all areas with one simple intention – to do the right thing. Our B Corp certification acknowledges what we are already doing, but also helps us identify areas where we can do more and provides a framework for us to build on from here. How did we become B Corp Certified?
The process is rigorous and leaves no stone unturned. Four decades of hard work have preceded becoming a B Corp – every aspect was assessed and audited against high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. It involved every department engaging with the process, which was what makes it such a valuable certification.
Our mission is to create the best walking holidays on, and for, the planet. By featuring local, independent and often family-run businesses, not only do our holidays support the communities in which they take place, they offer a more immersive and memorable experience.
Doing the right thing
It’s what drives us. From designing trips that add value for local businesses, to aligning CEO and senior manager compensation to the achievement of our ‘People and Planet’ as well as ‘Profit’ targets. From our approach to charitable giving and colleague volunteering to our work to monitor and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Our career development and health and wellness provision to our approach to data security… doing the right thing has been integral to Inntravel from the very beginning.
Doing good for our people
Whether we’re supporting hoteliers or supporting our team on their own sustainability journeys through volunteering and training opportunities.
As part of our B Corp journey we’ve enhanced many of our People policies, for example, by introducing two volunteer days every year for every employee.
We’re also committed to creating long-lasting relationships with our independent hoteliers and guesthouse owners; working to make a positive contribution to the communities our customers travel to.
Doing good for our planet
Inntravel holidays are designed to tread as lightly as possible – we seek out eco-conscious hotels, veer away from the beaten track, and use public transport options where possible. These elements are what make Inntravel holidays so unique, all while working to reduce our negative impacts on the environment and maximise our positive impacts.
But we don’t just stop there. For each booking we take, we donate to our sustainability partners to support their important work in carbon removal and biodiversity restoration. Another key focus for us is rail travel and we actively encourage as many Inntravellers to journey to their holidays by rail.
Sustainability is a commitment that has been at the heart of Inntravel from our very beginning. It is integral to every decision we make and how we operate. Our approach is holistic: from implementing our comprehensive carbon reduction roadmap to diversity, inclusion, and ethical supply chains. Developing an enhanced rail programme is another key part of our strategy.
Inntravel holidays are designed to tread lightly – we choose independent suppliers, encourage the use of public transport, and often explore remote, rural areas where our presence helps to sustain and regenerate the local economy.
