To start on a reality check- your overview mentions the olive groves that you will pass through...frankly the almost total annihilation of the olive trees in the South of Puglia (courtesy of xylella fastidiosa) was very sad, and a stark reminder of how vulnerable we are to to the threat of micro-organisms..such as covid for humans! Further North, the difference was most marked, with a verdant landscape, and a heavy olive crop that we saw being harvested. The rides from Cisternino to, and around, Noci, were our favourites....and the Grotto was fabulous, and our high point of the trip. Well recommend that clients take the full tour with the guide.
We extended out time in Lecce by 2 hours beyond the advised return train ticket timings, which worked well, and allowed us just about enough time to savour this very attractive city....and a bit difficult to think how you could do it in less.....we still had time to go for a swim in the pool when we got back!

An excellent holiday through wonderful countryside. Having two nights in each place meant that we had time to appreciate the lovely hotels and surrounding area. The food was wonderful - if at times too much!! Having the extra two days on the Puglia to Aberobello trip when we extended to Matera made the holiday fantastic. Matera, the highlight of the trip, was a great place to finish. We cycled 650K in total. Using e-bikes meant that we could enjoy the rides, go off on a few side trips and not worry about being too tired when we reached our destinations. A fantastic holiday from Inntravel.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: The customers combined these two cycling holidays - Pedalling through Puglia to Alberobello and Sassi & Trulli
1. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday & found the cycling using e-bikes to be more straightforward & comfortable that we expected. We completed even the longest routes with lots of time to spare, whilst visiting the sites along the way & having lots of coffee & beer stops. We particularly appreciated our total independence & being able to do things at our own pace.
2. Of particular note was the quality (& quantity!!) of the food served & service at Masseria Copertini & Masseria Alcorico. Chicco Rizzo was also outstanding for its overall ambience & friendliness & efficiency of the staff.
3. The ease of all the travel & transfer arrangements meant that everything went smoothly & we didn't have to worry about a thing.
4. After long days cycling at 30 degrees plus, we particularly enjoyed using the outdoor pools at most of the Masserias. When booking future holidays of this kind we would look for the availability of outdoor pools as a must-have.
5. Make use of the GPX files, but download more than one app & be prepared for the routes they suggest to differ from the written notes. Also note that Kamoot required local maps to be purchased before it could be used for navigation.
We enjoyed all of this trip and welcomed the pool after cycling each day - even a rooftop dip in Gallipoli
It would have been good to have water bottles attached to the bikes - we needed to drink a lot and it is likely to get hotter in years to come.
This was one of the best holidays we have ever had. The longer than one week duration (10 nights) meant we stayed at each hotel for two nights which enabled us to enjoy both an additional circular cycling route and explore the area in greater detail. The organisation and logistics was perfectly managed. The Puglian people were the loveliest I have ever met and their driving towards cyclists most courteous and considerate. Our most cherished memory will be when we stopped to eat our lunch on the side of a road and a chap spotted us from his house and brought out a glass of his home made red wine for us to have with our cheese panini. We holidayed during beginning to middle of June and the roads were incredibly quiet making cycling very pleasurable. All the hoteliers went out of their way to make sure we were cared for. The outdoor pool at Masseria Chicco Rizzo was for us a highlight too. Altogether a lovely holiday.
Cycling along by sea coast along quiet roads was wonderful. Go by end of May to avoid the crowds and heat. The spring flowers in April were stunning. Hire e-bikes. Fantastic directions and organisation by Inntravel
A very enjoyable itinerary with varied cycling along mostly quiet lanes. Inntravel's choice of hotels was, as always, impeccable, but a special mention must go to the staff at Abate Masseria who managed to surpass the excellent service and welcomes we had received elsewhere!
Tips and recommendations:
Staff in Abate Masseria very helpful and firendly in arranging and transporting us for wonderful evening meals in Noci.
In towns and cities in Puglia street names are rarely visible at the corner of junctions and one often has to travel a long way down a road to find a street name so other landmarks in addition to street names could be useful.
Highlights: most routes, varied accommodation and meals
There were so many highlights actually. The whole trip was carefully planned and we felt very confident in your choices and routes. We were glad we bought first class tickets on the train (from/to Rome) as we had a slightly better seat for the six hour trip plus a free snack and small bottle of Prosecco (although you have to ask for Prosecco as otherwise they give you water). The cafes at all stations are fully equipped with everything you need for your journey also - and there is always the buffet car!
Due to our late flight and therefore arrival at the start we booked a second night at the MAssyria Copertini, we would recommend this. It was very useful not to dash out the following day and to have a slow day getting used to the bikes with a local cycle that we easily put together ourselves.
Lecce Day not on the bikes was excellent.
The massarias were an absolute delight as accommodation. Exceeded expectations and were generally excellent as you will see from our ratings.
The add-on at the Abate Masseria was definitely the right thing to do and we were delighted we did.
Everything was exactly as it said in the brochure!
We had the most amazing adventure with wonderful weather, amazing wine, food - all with stunning scenery and really interesting top quality overnight stops.
We so much ejoyed the stays and the tradional home cooked style foods - everything you dream about before going on a holiday like this.
We had electric bikes on this occasion, not essential for this trip however it made life for us very much easier to enjoy things at our leisure.
The accompanying trip notes were first class only a couple of stumbles along the route over the 10 days where it maybe needed clarifying a little further.

The flexibility which allowed us to add extra nights in some places was much appreciated and allowed us to walk and explore rather than just cycle. The coastal scenery was beautiful. We loved Otranto and Gallipoli. Inland routes included very pretty villages.
