Inntravel’s 5 unmissable destinations for 2025

Lucy Fletcher, 20 December, 2024
Where to go in 2025 – we’ve picked five unmissable destinations to help you start planning your next adventure.

Looking for your next adventure? We’ve rounded up five destinations we think should be on your radar for travel in 2025.

Our holidays are self-guided, giving you the freedom to go at your own pace and the space to enjoy every moment – and with these added cultural, gastronomic, and historical offerings, we believe these destinations are well worth visiting this year.

Catalonia, Spain
First up is a perennial Inntravel favourite. This year, we celebrate 30 years since our Along the Catalan Coast walking holiday was first introduced!

It’s a favourite for good reason, thanks to the delightful selection of family-run accommodation you stay in along the way, the delicious seafood lunches to be savoured en route, and the chance to discover the unspoiled Costa Brava, well away from the crowds. Catalonia has officially scooped the title of World Region of Gastronomy in 2025, too – giving you just one more reason to visit.

This is a highly enjoyable holiday, along fine unspoiled stretches of the Costa Brava, with good hotels. Being able to swim in unspoiled coves en route was very special, as was hearing nightingales behind the beach in the wood at Platja Castell (and on other walks as well).” - Ms T Stuart

Explore the Catalan Coast  >
Normandy, France
2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. We invite you to step back in time and visit the key landing sites, monuments, and museums on our Walk Normandy’s D-Day Landing Beaches holiday.

On this leisurely route you make your way along the coast and through countryside, taking your time to explore the many museums and monuments that you pass along the way – for example the British Memorial at Ver sur Mer. Your final stop is historical Bayeux, a city of cobbled streets and half-timbered houses (as well as the famed Bayeux Tapestry – be quick, though, the Tapestry museum will close for two years of renovations from September 2025).

Top tip: for a seamless travel experience, start and finish your journey by rail. You can easily reach the starting point of the holiday, Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, by train, but breaking your journey in Paris would give you the opportunity to visit the recently reopened Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Walk in Normandy >
Umbria, Italy’s ‘Green Heart’
2025 is also a Jubilee Year for pilgrims visiting Italy, only celebrated every 25 years. On our Assisi to Spoleto holiday, you can walk the serene St. Francis’ Way, following in the footsteps of Italy’s patron saint.

Along the way, discover Umbria’s rolling hills – much quieter, and more remote than those of neighbouring Tuscany – as well as its spiritual charm.

Accommodation exudes Umbrian character, too, and you stay in a mix of settings: in the midst of Montefalco’s vineyard-cloaked hills, atop a hillside overlooking ancient Spello, and in the centre of Assisi’s historic heart. The route concludes in Spoleto, whose breathtaking Ponte delle Torri bridge has just reopened after eight years of closure.

Step into Umbria  >
Naples, the ‘city of sun’
If you plan on visiting Naples this year, you’ll be able to enjoy the series of special events and exhibitions organised to celebrate the city’s 2,500-year anniversary.

You can add a stay in Naples onto our Amalfi coast walking holiday, giving you ample opportunity to visit the city’s many sites including the Baroque church of Gesú Nuovo, the imposing Castel Nuovo, and the Museum and Art Gallery of Capodimonte, as well as to enjoy a stroll along the Lungomare, the attractive seafront promenade.

Stay in Naples >
Say saúde in Porto, Portugal’s culinary hotspot
Porto’s known for its port wine, but recently the city was named Europe’s Best Emerging Culinary City, making it a must-visit for foodies.

Expect to feast your eyes (and stomach) on classic local dishes like francesinha – a large sandwich made with melted cheese, meat, and a spicy tomato sauce – as well as more refined offerings such as bacalhau (salted cod).

Pair it with walks and wine tastings through the Douro Valley for a perfect blend of culture, cuisine, and nature.
