“There’s no trip to Greece that will not be improved by reading Stephen Fry’s Mythos. These ancient tales are brought exploding back to life in Fry’s inimitable style: warm, witty, learned, but deliciously digestible at the same time. And, brilliantly, you don’t need a classical education to dive in.

There’s so much fun here. He clearly loves his source material, but respects it too, and takes us right back to the beginning. We start with an empty universe, with Gaia, Chaos, and the Titans, and we go up to Zeus and the Olympians with a glorious, complicated cast of dryads, naiads, centaurs, and giants.

And, once you’ve read these stories, just looking around Greece is more fun.”

Greece in spring & early summer

The landscape bursts into colour with the arrival of spring in Greece, with wild flora blooming and blossoming on into the summer. Cool coastal air works in harmony with the warming sunshine, and the seas sparkle in the light.
