Whichever region you choose for your self-guided Italian cycling holiday, we provide a high-quality bike, our meticulously compiled route notes and maps, and luggage transfers, so that you can cycle from one invitinghotel to the next at a pace that suits you.
One advantage of choosing an Inntravel cycling holiday in Italy is the opportunity to see an area up close. Ours are Slow holidays, and so our diligently planned routes (explained in easy-to-read notes) are short enough that you don’t have to rush. And because you have no group and no luggage (we take care of that), you can ad-lib, making impromptu stops at viewpoints and places of interest, all of which makes for a memorable Italian cycling holiday.
Our selection of Italian cycling holidays not only includes routes in Sicily, southern Italy, Tuscany and the Italian Alps, but also in Lombardy and the Veneto in the north, where our cycling holiday starts in Mantova, a Renaissance gem set splendidly on the shores of three lakes, and leads along pretty riverside routes, around the southern shores of Lake Garda, and through vineyards to romantic Verona with its wealth of Roman monuments.
Travelling from outside the UK?
To give you a good idea of how we can tailor our trips to your individual requirements, take a look at the section of the website specifically devoted to travellers from outside the UK.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to get the low-down on Inntravel holidays from someone who has first-hand experience, you can email Phil Wise. Based in California, Phil has taken many trips with us over the years, and will be happy to give you general information about travelling to Europe and the overall Inntravel holiday experience from an American perspective.
How our Italian cycling holidays are graded
Having offered bike holidays in Europe since the late 1980s, we are experts in Italian cycling holidays, and have something for all levels of ‘amateur’. To be sure of choosing the Italian cycling holiday that is right for you, read how we grade them below, or upgrade to an electric (e-)bike to increase your options. (Our grading system assumes you are using a ‘regular’ bike, so if you choose an e-bike, you'll find the cycling considerably easier.)
Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents.
Easy-to-moderate cycling featuring undulating routes with more frequent short ascents, and a mix of shorter and longer days.
Moderate cycling with some longer, steady uphill sections, and longer days.
Fairly strenuous cycling featuring longer days with some sustained climbs.
What to expect from your Italian cycling holiday
There are three elements which constitute the cornerstones of all Inntravel holidays, including our Italian cycling holidays: alluring landscapes; delightful accommodation hand-picked for its friendly welcome; and delectable regional cuisine.
Reliable route notes
Lovingly compiled in-house, our route guides contain all the information you need to get from A to B independently, without missing out on the things that make for a full and varied holiday experience, such as the stories behind local customs and monuments. Updated constantly, they are totally reliable and like your own personal guide.
Freedom to choose
Holidaying independently, not in a group, means you can stay in intimate hotels, and decide which places to visit each day. What’s more, there’s no set start date, no set duration (feel free to add extra nights), no set travel arrangements – we’ll happily book a bespoke travel package for you, either by air, by rail or by ferry.
Talk to our experts
We’ve amassed a wealth of expertise since we first started back in 1984. Whether you phone or email us, your questions will be answered by friendly experts who share a love of travel and who have experienced our cycling holidays first hand. They’ll be happy to help you choose the cycling holiday that’s best for you.
