Wonderful holiday. The staff at the hotel were lovely and so welcoming and the scenery was truly breathtaking. Peaceful unpressured trails with incredibly friendly and patient Norwegian skiers along the route. My friend broke one of her ski poles on the last day and when we told the hotel they were just sorry she had had to cope with that while some distance from the hotel (fab customer service!) The sauna etc huge added bonus and we loved the preparations for their Easter celebrations when the hotel filled up. For a few nights, when the hotel was quiet, dinner choices weren't great but that in no way affected our enjoyment and we would go back in a heartbeat.
Our cross country skiing holiday at the Spidsbergseter resort was a great experience and more than lived up to our expectations. The hotel room was fine for our purposes and the catering was plentiful.....you could never accuse them of being stingy, though the choices each day, at breakfast and dinner, were pretty much always the same and repetitive. My partner is a vegan and she was happy with the choices available. The afternoon tea (only mentioned on Inntravel's website by the way, and not in any of the paperwork sent to us) was a nice wee bonus after a day on the trails. The pool is super as is the steam room, saunas and the spa pool. It helped a lot to have a swim after skiing to ease any muscle pain away and, if you looked hard enough, there was even a massage chair on the second floor of one of the hotel's wings which was free and which we used a couple of times.
All the staff we engaged with were very friendly and had no problem in understanding us (and vice versa) and provided valuable advice about particular ski trails' suitability for particular weather conditions. Of course the weather is one of the things that will affect your enjoymant of the trails and we had some fantastic weather and some rather challenging weather. We only lost 1 days skiing due to the weather conditions. Several of our fellow travellers chose the snow shoe option throughout their holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the stunning countryside on the plateau that way.
The dessert buffet was excellent, just remember that a similar selection will be available each day so pace yourself!

We had a lovely week at the Spidsbergseter hotel, staff were helpful in all areas, rooms were basic but entirely functional with LOADS of hot water from the shower. The spa area was very welcome at the end of the day. Thank you very much and we will look forward to returning.
A wonderful cross-country skiing holiday. Everything fully organised and arranged. All travel arrangements (plane, train, replacement bus, taxi etc) went flawlessly with no issues. Hotel in an excellent location for the trails and with superb facilities. The food is worthy of special mention - it is spectacular and plentiful. Took my own skis, so can't comment on the rental skis or tuition, but other guests seemed very pleased. Staff very happy to talk about the ski trails and would groom them if asked! All in all a great trip with a fantastic mountain setting.
The Spidsbergseter Resort is an excellent place for cross country skiing with direct access to the loipe from the hotel. There are plenty of routes to take and the scenery stunning. To get the most benefit you would need to be an intermediate or experienced cross country skier to enjoy the most scenic routes, but there are enough routes for a beginner. The quality of the ski equipment was excellent. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall, we would say that the hotel had a bit of a "tired" feel to it. The food was plentiful and we were never hungry but the choices were a little repetitive. The afternoon tea and cake was a lovely addition at the end of a long day's skiing. We also enjoyed the dog sledding. Travel arrangements were very smooth. We opted to travel a day early with a stopover in Oslo, which meant we were not so tired when we arrived at the hotel.
This holiday exceeded our expectations. Inntravel took all the stress away and planned everything in such an efficient manner. I would highly recommend them and we will be booking our next big holiday through them. We are not regular travellers but Inntravel were meticulous and the guidance and detailed information that was provided made our holiday run smoothly.
We loved the rural setting of Spidspbergseter Hotel and the wilderness all around. We are in our 60's and had never skied before but loved it... my husband fell lots of times on the first day but he wasn't hurt and he got the hang of it over the next couple of days and loved it. It was good to know that it is absolutely fine to take off your skies and walk up or down a steeper incline. In hindsight we felt we could have got away with packing less - but being our first time it was difficult to judge. I would suggest getting one or two sets of merino wool base layers - we bought other base layers but didn't need them. We each had two pairs of softshell, water resistant trousers for skiing which worked really well and it's also something you will use out for walks when you get back home. A windproof, breathable, water resistant jacket was used all week with mid layers as required.
One of the many highlights for us was the staff, especailly the reception and dining room staff with whom we had the most contact. The hotel was very busy at times during our two week stay, but the staff were always friendly, helpful, and (when they had the time to do so) very happy to chat and engage with us which was a great pleasure for us. Scottish people like us love to chat!
An excellent location and hotel with friendly staff, great food and extensive trails for cross country, hiking and dog sledding.
Skiing: Not so great for beginners but excellent for intermediates and above.
Plenty of good snow and of excellent quality.
The resort food is truly excellent. 5 star dining, lovely presentation and charming service.

Great venue, fantastic ski trails, lovely hotel. Board arrangements were great and a high standard. Vegetarians should look elsewhere.
Fabulous scenery with well marked cross country ski trails. Fantastic food at the hotel.
The holiday was superb - the trails numerous and suitable for very experienced skiers as well as complete beginners - plenty of variation. Everyone so friendly.
We were very fortunate to get superb weather for most of our stay so enjoyed the XC ski trails at their very best and the location of the hotel is perfect. To get the best out of the area you need to have some experience of XC skiing because there are steep ascents and descents to get to the most scenic areas. I'm not sure I would recommend it to a complete novice, albeit the fact that there weren't too many other skiers on the trails would be an advantage if it was your first time XC skiing. The Spidbergseter Hotel is the perfect XC skiers hotel with all the facilities you could wish for and excellent food to complement the skiing.
We had a great time at Spidsbergseter. We loved the variety and quaility of the ski trails. The signposting is good, the grooming was excellent and the views were outstanding. The staff are friendly, the rooms are good, the facilities excellent and the food was terriffic. One of the very best XC ski holidays that we have experienced.
I was really impressed with how helpful and informative Inntravel were and would highly recommend them!
For first time xc skiers I couldn't recommend Spidsbergsetter enough. The trails are well groomed regularly and well signposted so there's no chance of getting lost. The hotel is geared up specifically for skiing and outdoor activities with a lovely Spa to unwind in after a days skiing. The food is exceptional. Not many people there due to Covid so it was a set menu each night with a choice of a fish or meat dish. If you didn't want either they were more than happy to offer an alternative. An essential for this holiday is the Skisporet App. It is available in English and shows which snow trails have been groomed and when. It even shows where the snow machines are. This is a must if there isn't much snow or following a heavy snowfall. Also visit the website YR.NO. This is the best weather and snow forecast site for the Rondane region.
We enjoyed a high level of service at the hotel and made good use of the pool and spa area after skiing every day which helped to relax us ready to enjoy a delicious evening meal. We especially enjoyed the buffet nights which consisted of many Norwegian delicacies.
