We invite you to try a self-guided cycling holiday in Alsace, on which you ride from one charming hotel to the next. We arrange luggage transfers and provide you with a high-quality bike and our comprehensive route notes and maps, the rest is up to you.
Fairy-tale villages, castles, wine… An Inntravel cycling holiday in Alsace is about more than the cycling. It’s a Slow holiday, so take time to explore the ancient villages and indulge in wine tastings. There’s no luggage to weigh you down, and, with no group, it’s you who sets the pace and decides what visits to make. You can rely on us to select hotels of character and to provide accurate route notes to guide you there, so relax and enjoy…
Our cycling holidays in Alsace explore the area around Colmar, between the River Rhine and the Vosges Mountains. There’s no shortage of castles or of picture-postcard villages of half-timbered houses and cobbled, flower-filled streets, meaning there are plenty of opportunities to stop and explore.
To give you a good idea of how we can tailor our trips to your individual requirements, take a look at the section of the website specifically devoted to travellers from outside the UK.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to get the low-down on Inntravel holidays from someone who has first-hand experience, you can email Phil Wise. Based in California, Phil has taken many trips with us over the years, and will be happy to give you general information about travelling to Europe and the overall Inntravel holiday experience from an American perspective.
Are our cycling holidays in Alsace right for you?
Given the mainly flat terrain, cycling holidays in Alsace are suitable for occasional cyclists who don’t mind some undulations. To be sure of choosing the right grade, you can read the definitions below. If you think you might need some help on uphill sections or longer days, you could upgrade to an electric (e-)bike. (Our grading system assumes you are using a ‘regular’ bike, so if you choose an e-bike, bear in mind that the cycling will be considerably easier.)
Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents.
Easy-to-moderate cycling featuring undulating routes with more frequent short ascents, and a mix of shorter and longer days.
Moderate cycling with some longer, steady uphill sections, and longer days.
Fairly strenuous cycling featuring longer days with some sustained climbs. (We don't currently have any holidays at this level.)
Why choose Inntravel for your cycling holiday in Alsace
Like all our holidays, our cycling holidays in Alsace revolve around three key elements: alluring scenery; hand-picked accommodation of character where you’ll be warmly received; and excellent regional cuisine.
Route notes you can trust
We pride ourselves on providing accurate, comprehensive route guides, which we update constantly so that you can have complete confidence in them. While steering you from A to B, they’ll fill you in about places of interest and local culture, so that you enjoy the richest possible holiday experience – all at your own pace.
Freedom to choose
Holidaying independently, not in a group, means you can stay in intimate hotels, and decide which places to visit each day. What’s more, there’s no set start date, no set duration (feel free to add extra nights), no set travel arrangements – we’ll happily book a bespoke travel package for you, either by air, by rail or by ferry.
Make the most of our expertise
The expertise that we’ve built up since starting in 1984 is greatly valued by our customers. The friendly experts with whom you speak by phone or converse via email share a passion for travel and have first-hand knowledge of our cycling holidays. They’ll be pleased to answer your questions and put together your ideal holiday.
