Embark on a non-group, self-guided walking holiday in Switzerland, walking from one inviting hotel to the next while your luggage is transported, or exploring from a single base. We provide you with our reliable and informative route notes, leaving you free to walk at your own pace.
Walking holidays in Switzerland are synonymous with flower-filled meadows, chalet-style hotels, gently clanging cowbells, panoramic mountain cafés and iconic peaks. In the true spirit of a Slow holiday, take your time to enjoy both the scenery and the excellent mountain cooking – you’re not in a group, and have no luggage to weigh you down (we take care of that), so you can linger when and where you want…
Dreaming of travelling in 2021?
We are now operating holidays to Switzerland once again. If you would like to make a booking, please contact our travel experts.
For mountain walking, the Swiss Alps are hard to beat. If you’d like to see famous peaks up close, the best Inntravel walking holidays in Switzerland are From the Eiger to the Matterhorn and The High Route. For greater emphasis on lakes, head to Ticino, Lake Lucerne or Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland. Or, if you’d prefer to get off the beaten track, we’d recommend the Engadine in easternmost Switzerland.
To give you a good idea of how we can tailor our trips to your individual requirements, take a look at the section of the website specifically devoted to travellers from outside the UK.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to get the low-down on Inntravel holidays from someone who has first-hand experience, you can email Phil Wise. Based in California, Phil has taken many trips with us over the years, and will be happy to give you general information about travelling to Europe and the overall Inntravel holiday experience from an American perspective.

Swiss walking holidays, Inntravel style
Our walking holidays in Switzerland – in common with all Inntravel holidays – feature three core ingredients: spellbinding scenery; genuinely welcoming accommodation hand-picked by us; and delicious local cuisine incorporating local cheeses and lake fish.
Walking since 1984
Since 1984 we’ve walked the most dramatic, tranquil and beautiful paths in Europe and beyond. We’ve learned a lot along the way, and would like to pass on our experience to you. Whether you prefer gentle paths or challenging hikes, call us. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff can help you plan your ideal walking holiday.
Holidays tailored for you
Because you explore independently on an Inntravel holiday, you can personalise the arrangements. Pick a holiday, then decide when to start, how long to stay (you can add extra nights) and how to get there. Then we take care of the details – from train, ferry or flight bookings to hotel and taxi reservations.
Detailed route information
We take extra care to provide you with clear, coherent route notes that we update regularly. Including useful tips about places to visit, Inntravel route guides give you more time to focus on the simple pleasures of walking, discovering the natural landscape at your own pace and soaking up the local ambience.
