The Serene Hardangerfjord

Hardangerfjord - the land of waterfalls
There is a long history of hospitality in the Hardangerfjord region and the hotels we have chosen for you reflect this – several are family run and all offer a very warm welcome. Although some of these hotels are also amongst the most historic and characterful in Norway, over the years they have grown in size and so can sometimes be busier than a ‘typical’ Inntravel hotel, though this is no way detracts from their superb settings and high standards of service.

Fleischer’s Hotel, Voss

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Fleischer’s Hotel
Over 100 years old and still run by the same family, Fleischer’s history is a rich one, while its setting is both convenient (right by the station) and impressive, with views across the Vangsvatnet lake to the mountains beyond. It retains much of its original character and features, while offering many modern facilities such as an indoor swimming pool, saunas and a jacuzzi as well as facilities for tennis, table-tennis and billiards. Breakfast is a traditional Norwegian buffet and dinner alternates daily between a set menu served at the table and a self-service buffet.

Brakanes Hotel, Ulvik

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Brakanes Hotel
The setting for this hotel is quite something; the views down the fjord from the lounge, restaurant and pretty gardens are simply breathtaking. The same view can also be enjoyed from our included twin or double bedrooms, all of which have a balcony. There is a small wellness area with a plunge pool and sauna or you may wish to take a dip in the fjord from the hotel’s own beach!

First Hotel Kinsarvik, Kinsarvik

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

First Hotel Kinsarvik
Located in the centre of this small village, you can expect a warm welcome at this hotel. The bedrooms are simply furnished but enjoy good views over the village and the fjord.

Hotel Ullensvang, Lofthus

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Hotel Ullensvang
This is a top-quality place to stay and another venerable hotel, having been run by the Utne family for more than 150 years and through five generations. Blending old with new, the hotel also offers many modern facilities - a large indoor and outdoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, solarium, indoor tennis and squash courts as well as rowing boats. Edvard Grieg was a regular visitor to the hotel in the late 19th century, and it is easy to see how the scenery might have inspired some of his great compositions. We include rooms overlooking the fjord so you too can take in these spectacular vistas.

Clarion Hotel Admiral, Bergen

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Clarion Hotel Admiral
Situated right on the water’s edge overlooking the Bryggen, this hotel is housed in a historic warehouse dating from 1904 and is within easy walking distance of all the main sites in this fjordside city. The modern twin or double bedrooms are decorated in warm colours and should you wish to have a view over the water, you can upgrade to a superior or deluxe room. Breakfast is taken in the restaurant overlooking the Bryggen and in warm weather you can even eat out on the terrace over the water.
