The Provence Long Trail

The heart of Provence
You stay at a variety of high-quality small hotels and charming guesthouses (see our page about chambres d’hôtes for more information) where you can sample delightful regional cuisine. Which accommodation you stay at in Gordes will depend on availability.

La Campagne Berne (chambres d'hôtes), Pierrerue

Meal arrangements: breakfast, and dinner included in a local restaurant

La Campagne Berne
La Campagne Berne is a converted farmhouse, built from the local honey-coloured stone, enjoying a peaceful position outside the hamlet of Pierrerue. Eric and Bruno Delaetre-Boulanger are keen to share their passion for Provence and will give you a warm welcome. On one visit here we particularly enjoyed the delicious watermelon, fig and orange home-made jams at breakfast – a far cry from the usual mundane flavours of jam!  The rooms are decorated in Provençal style, and there are pleasant grounds for you to enjoy breathtaking views towards the Alps in the distance.
Owners Eric and Bruno are wonderful hosts: they not only take great care of their guests, but also offer advice on the many local cafés and restaurants for evening meals.

Bergerie de la Beaudine (3* chambres d'hôtes), Forcalquier

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Bergerie de la Beaudine
This charming guesthouse is situated in a peaceful location on the edge of the town. It has a garden and outdoor pool. There is a good restaurant close by, and several more in Forcalquier itself. Breakfast is served at a communal table where you eat with other guests.

Auberge de Reillanne (2*), Reillanne

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Auberge de Reillanne
Converted from a fortified manor house, Monique Balmand's much-praised auberge offers spacious, rustic bedrooms, good country cooking and plenty of space to sit and relax in the pleasant gardens.

Auberge des Seguins (2*), near Buoux

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Auberge des Seguins
Popular with walkers, this is by far the simplest of the hotels on the holiday. Nevertheless, the secluded location in the Aigue Brun Gorge is excellent - in some bedrooms the cliff forms one of the walls!

Les Sables d'Ocre (3*), Roussillon

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Les Sables d
This pleasant hotel sits amid large gardens, where the scents and colours of Provence mingle with the shrilling of cicadas as you relax on the shady terrace or by the large swimming pool. Most bedrooms have either a balcony or terrace overlooking the gardens or the pool. Breakfast is served on the terrace, while dinner is arranged by the hotel at a nearby restaurant.

Le Mas des Romarins (3*), Gordes

Meal arrangements: breakfast, plus dinner on first night

Le Mas des Romarins
This delightful hotel is perched on the edge of the gorge, a 15-minute stroll from the town, and close to the viewpoint from which everyone gets their classic Gordes shot. You will be warmly welcomed by enthusiastic owner Alexandre Deshaies, who will ensure you get the most out of your stay. The compact rooms are all tastefully decorated and furnished, and most have a terrace or balcony. The hotel has a fine restaurant where you dine on one night, and a swimming pool in the pretty garden.

Le Domaine de l'Enclos (guesthouse), Gordes

Alternative accommodation
Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Le Domaine de l
Run by Carole Larivière, this high-quality guesthouse, with just six rooms, is set in a tranquil location just a 15 minute-stroll from the town. One wing of the house contains the public rooms, including a large living room (with grand piano), billiards room, bar area and breakfast room. Ground-floor rooms open out onto the gardens or terrace, while upper-floor rooms boast fine views across the countryside. There is a large pool in the extensive grounds. A choice of restaurants is available for dinner in Gordes.

Hotel du Poète (3*), Fontaine-de-Vaucluse

Meal arrangements: breakfast, plus dinner on first night in nearby restaurant

Hotel du Poète
In harmony with its surroundings, the welcoming Hotel du Poète is charming and beautifully decorated. It has been converted from a 19th-century water mill on the banks of the River Sorgue and is an oasis of calm and tranquillity, despite being in the heart of pleasantly bustling Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. Outside, chairs and tables are scattered invitingly in shady spots by the river, surrounded by pots of colourful flowers, and loungers line the small pool. Inside, the lounge and elegant, individually decorated bedrooms are painted in warm, earthy colours which complement the beautiful furniture. You have a choice of two room types: Arpège or the slightly larger Mélodie rooms, available as an upgrade. All bedrooms are equipped with air-conditioning, television, minibar and hairdryer.
PLEASE NOTE: if you require a twin room, you will need to upgrade to a Mélodie room.
