Embark on a self-guided cycling holiday in Provence, cycling from one welcoming hotel to the next while your luggage is transported. We provide a high-quality bike and our concise but informative route notes, leaving you free to explore at your own pace.
Cycling holidays in Provence promise a wide variety of cultural interest thanks to the wealth of medieval villages, colourful markets, scenery that inspired Van Gogh, and much more. In the true spirit of a Slow holiday, stop as frequently as you like to take it all in – you’re not part of a group, and have no luggage to carry (we take care of your bags, along with providing route notes and all the other arrangements), so there’s no rush…
To give you a good idea of how we can tailor our trips to your individual requirements, take a look at the section of the website specifically devoted to travellers from outside the UK.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to get the low-down on Inntravel holidays from someone who has first-hand experience, you can email Phil Wise. Based in California, Phil has taken many trips with us over the years, and will be happy to give you general information about travelling to Europe and the overall Inntravel holiday experience from an American perspective.
Are our cycling holidays in Provence right for you?
Like all our holidays on two wheels, our cycling holidays in Provence are aimed squarely at ‘amateur’ cyclists, with the option to upgrade to an electric (e-)bike for even easier cycling. To understand our grading system, read the definitions below. (Our grading system assumes you are using a ‘regular’ bike, so if you choose an e-bike, bear in mind that the cycling will be considerably easier.)
Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents.
Easy-to-moderate cycling featuring undulating routes with more frequent short ascents, and a mix of shorter and longer days.
Moderate cycling with some longer, steady uphill sections, and longer days.
Fairly strenuous cycling featuring longer days with some sustained climbs. (We don't currently have any holidays at this level.)
Cycling holidays in Provence, Inntravel style
Our cycling holidays in Provence – in common with all Inntravel holidays – feature three core ingredients: lyrical landscapes; genuinely welcoming accommodation hand-picked by us; and delicious regional cuisine incorporating plump tomatoes, rosemary and creamy goat’s cheese.
Reliable route notes
Lovingly compiled in-house, our route guides contain all the information you need to get from A to B independently, without missing out on the things that make for a full and varied holiday experience, such as the stories behind local customs and monuments. Updated constantly, they are totally reliable and like your own personal guide.
Your holiday, your way
Independent holidays offer so much more freedom than a group holiday. Pick a start date to suit you, build in extra nights at any hotel along the route, choose how you travel – by air, rail or ferry – and from where. You’ll also get to experience smaller, more intimate hotels and, best of all, you can be entirely spontaneous as you explore.
Make the most of our expertise
The expertise that we’ve built up since starting in 1984 is greatly valued by our customers. The friendly experts with whom you speak by phone or converse via email share a passion for travel and have first-hand knowledge of our cycling holidays. They’ll be pleased to answer your questions and put together your ideal holiday.
