On a self-guided cycling holiday in the Dordogne, we provide a high-quality bike, our painstakingly researched route notes and maps, and luggage transfers, so that you can cycle from one carefully selected hotel to the next at entirely your own pace.
Our cycling holiday in the Dordogne promises a winning combination of historic towns, natural wonders, varied scenery and the region’s renowned gastronomy. In keeping with our Slow holiday philosophy, our meticulously planned routes (described in easy-to-read notes) allow plenty of time to savour it all. And because there’s no group, no arrangements to make (we do all that), and no luggage, you can be spontaneous, stopping to explore a medieval village or to taste artisan cheeses.
No cycling holiday in the Dordogne would be complete without visiting the famous hanging village of Rocamadour. On top of that, our cycling holiday in the Dordogne also takes in the spectacular caves of the Gouffre de Padirac, and numerous medieval towns and villages.
To give you a good idea of how we can tailor our trips to your individual requirements, take a look at the section of the website specifically devoted to travellers from outside the UK.

Is our cycling holiday in the Dordogne right for you?
Cycling in the Dordogne involves a few ascents – this is undulating countryside – but these are rewarded by far-reaching views and the chance to freewheel downhill again! To be sure that our cycling holiday in the Dordogne is right for you, take a look at the grade definitions below. You can upgrade to an electric (e-)bike to make things easier. (Our grading system assumes you are using a ‘regular’ bike.)
Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents.
Easy-to-moderate cycling featuring undulating routes with more frequent short ascents, and a mix of shorter and longer days.
Moderate cycling with some longer, steady uphill sections, and longer days.
Fairly strenuous cycling featuring longer days with some sustained climbs. (We don't currently have any holidays at this level.)
What to expect from your cycling holiday in the Dordogne
There are three key ingredients which are common to all Inntravel holidays, including our cycling holidays in the Dordogne: splendid scenery; charming accommodation hand-picked for its warm welcome; and flavoursome regional gastronomy.
Reliable route notes
Lovingly compiled in-house, our route guides contain all the information you need to get from A to B independently, without missing out on the things that make for a full and varied holiday experience, such as the stories behind local customs and monuments. Updated constantly, they are totally reliable and like your own personal guide.
Make the holiday your own
An independent holiday means no set start date, no set duration, no set travel arrangements. So tell us if/where you wish to add extra nights, how and from where you’d like to travel (we can book bespoke travel arrangements by air, rail or ferry), and enjoy staying at more intimate hotels and having no fixed timetable as you explore.
We’ve been offering holidays since 1984 and have built up a wealth of experience. Whenever you contact us, you’ll deal with friendly experts who share a passion for travel and who have stayed in our featured hotels and cycled our routes. They’ll be delighted to answer your queries and help you plan your perfect holiday.
