For your non-group,self-guided walking holiday in the French Pyrenees, we provide maps and our painstakingly researched route notes, and also arrange luggage transfers, so that you can walk from one carefully selected hotel to the next at entirely your own pace.
Walking holidays in the (French) Pyrenees are about getting away from it all, enjoying the satisfaction of reaching passes and peaks, and marvelling at the diverse wildlife. In keeping with our Slow holiday philosophy, our meticulously planned routes (described step by step) allow plenty of time to savour it all. And because there’s no group, no arrangements to make (we do all that), and no luggage, you can be spontaneous, stopping to cool your feet in a stream, or to visit a wayside chapel.
We’ve been offering walking holidays in the French Pyrenees since 1987 – our inaugural hiking route was in the eastern Cerdanya (Cerdagne) region. We have found higher-quality hotels than in those early days, but the essence – demanding yet rewarding walking between unspoiled villages – remains the same. We offer another walking holiday in the Pyrenees, at the opposite end of the chain, in the Basque Pyrenees, where you will experience Basque culture and a palpable sense of journey as you descend towards the Atlantic.
