Embark on a non-group,self-guided walking holiday in Provence, walking from one charming hotel to the next while your luggage is transported, or exploring from a single base. We provide you with our concise but informative route notes, leaving you free to walk at your own pace.
The very name ‘Provence’ conjures up images of medieval villages, colourful markets and sun-drenched landscapes that have inspired countless artists. Our walking holidays in Provence promise all this and more. In the true spirit of a Slow holiday, stop as frequently as you like to take it all in – you’re not part of a group, and have no luggage to carry (we take care of your bags, along with providing route notes and all the other arrangements), so there’s no rush…
Among Inntravel’s walking holidays in Provence is a week’s exploration from a charming hotel near Mont Ventoux; hotel-to-hotel walking either through the distinctive landscapes of the Luberon, or in Drôme Provençale, a lesser-known area of Provence; a mix of walking and sightseeing on the Côte d’Azur; and our shamelessly gastronomic holiday near the iconic Pont du Gard aqueduct.
To give you a good idea of how we can tailor our trips to your individual requirements, take a look at the section of the website specifically devoted to travellers from outside the UK.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to get the low-down on Inntravel holidays from someone who has first-hand experience, you can email Phil Wise. Based in California, Phil has taken many trips with us over the years, and will be happy to give you general information about travelling to Europe and the overall Inntravel holiday experience from an American perspective.
Which walking holiday in Provence is right for you?
For easy or easy-to-moderate routes, we recommend our walking holiday along the Côte d’Azur or to the Pont du Gard. The landscapes of the Luberon and Drôme Provençale are more undulating, so feature more ascents and descents. To be sure of choosing the walking holiday in Provence that’s right for your level of fitness, see our grading system below.
Generally easy walking with few ascents / descents, but perhaps the occasional long day.
Easy-to-moderate walking with some ascents / descents, and occasional longer days.
Moderate walking on varied terrain, with some long days and regular ascents / descents.
Moderate-to-challenging walking on more rugged terrain with significant ascents / descents on most days. Compass skills may be required (check the individual holiday).
Challenging hikes, featuring long days with significant ascent / descent on challenging terrain. Compass skills may be required.
Choice of easier or harder routes, so that you can tailor most days to your requirements.
Walking holidays in Provence, Inntravel style
Our walking holidays in Provence – in common with all Inntravel holidays – feature three core ingredients: alluring landscapes; genuinely welcoming accommodation hand-picked by us; and delicious regional cuisine incorporating plump tomatoes, rosemary and creamy goat’s cheese.
Comprehensive route notes
We take great pride in our route guides, updating them constantly so that you have the most current information and can enjoy the richest possible holiday experience. Walking at a pace that suits you, you can rely on them to steer you from A to B, and fill you in about places of interest and local culture along the way.
Holidays tailored for you
Because you explore independently on an Inntravel holiday, you can personalise the arrangements. Pick a holiday, then decide when to start, how long to stay (you can add extra nights) and how to get there. Then we take care of the details – from train, ferry or flight bookings to hotel and taxi reservations.
