This was a fabulous holiday which we cannot fault. Brilliant organisation. We particularly enjoyed the evening meals which gave us local dishes and wines. Especially welcome after our superb walks.
The Stroll in the Dolomites was a real success. Staying at the Hotel La Perla meant that we were removed from the busy village of Ortisei but with ready access by means of the shuttle, always available at short notice. The friendly staff, facilities, food, service - all were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the pool facilities - with great views too - and the restaurant meals of such good quality and variety, not to mention the variety of buffet extras ( salads, fruit etc). Afternoon cake was a bonus and the food at the hotel breakfast and dinner was so generous , we didn't bother with any lunch.
We only did 2 of the lower level walks ( back to back, as they were not long) and particularly liked the short walk up to the Cafe Anna ( open early) through the trees. The high level walks mean the expense of the cable cars/lifts but they were totally worth the money. We were blessed with incredibly good weather - cloudless blue skies, temperatures in the low twenties - and the stunning mountains were a photographer's dream, even better than we had anticipated.
We used the Innsbruck add-on at the beginning of the holiday and were very pleased with the Hotel Maximilian ( especially as they gave us an upgrade!), conveniently central.
This was an excellent holiday for older walkers like ourselves, (who are now more limited re distance and ascent), as it enabled us to access the high mountains via cable cars or funicular railway. There was a good variety of walk options . The scenery was spectacular, with jagged mountain peaks, scented pine forests, alpine meadows and well signed paths.
The excellent La Perla hotel was very comfortable and in a lovely setting. It's very efficient shuttle service made accessing the local buses very easy. The afternoon tea provided by the hotel was very welcome when we returned early and there was a good choice of evening meal, with a salad and dessert buffet every night in addition to the 3 choices on the 4 course menu. The swimming pools were an ideal way to soothe tired muscles, especially the outdoor pool.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Ortisei , (despite a touch of nostalgia for our younger legs on our first Inntravel holiday 20 years ago, when we completed the nore demanding hotel to hotel High Dolomites walk ! Kastelruth has expanded considerably since then, but the village centre is still charming)
Verona, despite being incredibly busy, was a fascinating and atmospheric place to explore on foot over the last 2 days of our holiday and the train journey from Bolzano to Verona passed quickly, with views of orchards and vineyards.

This was a lovely holiday. The area was beautiful, the walking excellent and the hotel outstanding. It was one of our best holidays with Inntravel.
The walks were good, but the real highlight for us was the Alpe di Siusi which we did on a glorious sunny day.and found an absolute delight. The walking is straightforward with fabulouse mountain panoramas and dramatic views of the Sassolunga which towers above the area.
A stroll in the dolomites was an excellent start to the holiday. The hotel was outstanding and the walking was breathtakingly beautiful. We would thoroughly recommend this. The ability to take cable cars and railways to the top of the mountain made the walking so enjoyable with such stunning views.
The second week was difficult walking because of the heat but the hotels more than compensated and the area was beautiful. Would recommend anyone to take a second night at Masseria Panareo as this was a real highlight.
We were delighted with the holiday. The hotel was outstanding and the beauty of the area surpassed our expectations. It was wonderful to find such easy walking paths at such altitudes. Excellent for older walkers like ourselves.
Our Verona city break at the start of our holiday was really enjoyable, much enhanced by the walking notes and the central position of the hotel. The old part of the city is full of charm and history with plenty of shady cafes and seats to rest on in the heat of the day. We purchased the Verona card which we felt was worth it to enable us to visit the best sights, although we were rather disappointed it didn't include the Giardino Giusti which was an extra. The hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and booked evening meals for us on both our nights there. We would definitely recommend Restaurant Greppia set in a little square with a lovely atmosphere.
Walking in the Dolomites was absolutely beautiful in early June when we were able to fully appreciate the spring flowers everywhere. The chosen walks were all very different. Our favouite walk was from the the top of the Alpe di Siusi gondola, accessed in the village. The views were spectacular and walking just right. However we also enjoyed the walk from the Resciesa Funicular which took us to very different scenery full of more wild flowers, particularly the deep blue Gentians which were incredible. Over our week's stay we recorded over 50 different wild flowers but sure there were more we just didn't spot. It was good to have low level walking options too, as unfortunately the clouds we often obscuring the higher peaks later in our week and it was quite cold. it was exciting to get to the top of the Seceda cable car and find a lot of snow in June! Hotel La Perla was very comfortable and a lovely place to come back to at the end of a long walk. The snacks and cake provided late afternoon a welcome indulgence with a cup of tea overlooking the mountains. Then relaxing in the outdoor infinity pool was a real treat. The facilites and staff friendliness were excellent and meals all of a very high standard with plenty of choice.
Inntravel contacted us at the end of our stay with a new itinerary for our homeward travel due to a train strike, including new tickets for a Flixbus and new timings. It was all seamless, extremely efficient and a great relief. We would not have been aware of the strike otherwise. Thank you Inntravel, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to explore the area further one day.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: This customer did our city add-on in Verona followed by our walking holiday 'A Stroll in the Italian Dolomites (Hotel La Perla)'.
A wonderful holiday and the stay in Verona before going to Ortisei works really well. Both hotels were welcoming and just right. Guilletta e Romeo is very well placed for exploring the city and La Perla with its mini bus transport into Ortisei and the ski lifts was ideal - also good food. Some super walks even the weather was not ideal.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: These customers combined our single centre walk A Stroll in the Italian Dolomites with our Verona City add-on
