It’s one of the few hotels amongst Inntravel itineraries that’s women-owned – how long has your family been running the hotel?
The Schiaffino family have looked after guests with all their dedication and enthusiasm since 1962, constantly trying out new ideas, but unfailingly drawing on tradition and nature as an essential, limitless source of inspiration.
What can guests do from the hotel – do you have a favourite walk or viewpoint, for example?

The trail from Moneglia to Riva Trigoso is a wonderful mixture of quiet nature and sea-view lookouts, and on very clear days, you are able to enjoy beautiful views over to the Portofino Peninsula and the Italian Alps.

And how do the seasons compare – is there a time of year that’s extra special in Liguria?
It depends on what you expect and what you are going to do. Spring and autumn are best for hiking and then relaxing at our wellness studio (maybe with a leg-relief massage after a long hike for an extra pamper) whereas summertime is ideal for those who love to linger longer by the pool and soak up the sun – enjoying a more lively atmosphere and having an Italian-style Apericena under the stars.
With that in mind, the hotel’s ethos revolves around slow living, including slow food and nature-inspired menus – can you tell us a bit more?
In 2025, Italy became the first and only country in the world to win UNESCO recognition for intangible cultural heritage with its national cuisine.

Where’s your favourite spot in the hotel?
I [Francesca] particularly cherish all the new Suites and Junior Suites that I recently designed, lovingly sharing my passion for interior design and textiles – they are colourful spaces, full of joy.
New for 2026, I’m personally customising the handmade Campanino wood chairs of our restaurant – works of art crafted circa 1950, exemplifying the lightness and elegance associated with the Ligurian Chiavari tradition, known and appreciated by interior decorators and designers from all over the world – into unique artworks that guests will be able to buy here.
