We are keen for as many customers as possible to review their holiday. To make it easier to do so, we include a specific review section on our post-holiday questionnaire, and this is what we publish here, unedited. Read our full review policy >
This is a fabulous trip, great walks, biking, beaches, shopping and food are all a wonerdul expirience. We biked everywhere on Formentara, this enabled us to see more and have plenty of time for meals and time on the beaches.
We enjoyed the trip to the "hippy" market at El Pilar de la Mola in Formentera, as advised in the overview. We were rewarded with a fantastic sunset view from the bus on the ride down the twisty road from the plateau. We particularly enjoyed a couple of restaurants which I don't think appear in your recommendations - Shamarkanda in Sant Joan, Ibiza and Japoneria in Sant Francesc, Formentera. I think one of the recommendations, La Estrella in Formentera, had closed. The walking routes were varied and gave us a good taste of both the islands. The walk to Portinatx on Ibiza and around El Pilar de la Mola on Formentera were both spectacularly beautiful and very rewarding.
This was a great holiday - highly recommended. Both hotels were friendly and welcoming. We especially liked Sa Volta with an evening swim in the Med just 100m away. It was still hot and humid in Sept so carrying extra water is a must. The swims at the end of the walks were all the more enjoyable.

TIPS: We found that using the old road from San Joan to Portinatx was ideal for walking - little lovely views and less hazardous than route detailed in notes. In Formentera we found the restaurants Pinatar and Casanita very good.
A really relaxing holiday, walks not too challenging in the heat, sea swimming every day. Bicycles were a great way to explore beautiful Formentera
My wife and I did the Inntravel walk on Ibiza about seven years ago when we stayed at three different hotels on the island. The diversion this time onto Formentera was an enjoyable addition and the walks on Ibiza eliminated a few rather dull slogs from our last visit.
A very relaxing holiday with so many walking options. Late Spring seems a perfect time to visit. Several highlights include a traditional wedding with music and dance, a diversion through the Hippy Market on account of a private function, and as we arrived in Ibiza on the ferry from Formentera, the world triathlon championships barring our route. With plenty of time for our flight we lunched in a restaurant close to the race end and watched the athletes of the world pass by!
A very relaxed and laid back vibe everywhere we went.
We enjoyed exploring Ibiza and Formentera. We were warmly welcomed by Vicente at Can Fuster which has a lovely setting with pool/sunbeds in the peaceful garden. Sant Joan is very small (and a busy road runs through it including in front of Can Fuster although it is quiet at night) but has an excellent pharmacy and good supermarket and various restaurants, our favourite was Shamarkanda (turn right out of Can Fuster, 5 mins walk) which has great food and ambience and is much less expensive than a similar place, Giri Cafe, in the village. Cafe Vista Alegre is ideal for lunch. The walk to Cala San Vicente over the hills was lovely with wonderful views. We also walked to Cala Xarraca and would recommend a short extension along the top road to the next cove along, S'Illlt des Rencel which has a slightly bigger and nicer beach, and a good restaurant/cafe overlooking the sea. We also visited Santa Eulalia which is a bustling tourist town (though featureless historically and culturally). The coastal walk to Es Canar from here is gentle and varied and the colour contrasts lovely. The ferry to Formentera was fun. Sa Volta is a very clean, bright, well run hotel with extremely helpful and friendly staff. We were glad to have upgraded to a Superior room (with terrace) here as Standard rooms are small. The rooftop boasts a little pool, jacuzzi and sunny seating area with great views and bar service. There is a plethora of eating places in Formentera, those on the seafront are pricey. We were glad not to have overlooked the restaurant at Sa Volta which is less expensive and provides decent standard fare plus the excellent service characteristic of the whole hotel. It was very hot in Formentera so we didn't walk too far although we did the circuit of the salt lakes and saw herons (sadly no flamingos). The beaches and turqoise, transparent sea water on the island are very inviting and swimming here is lovely. All in all a gentle, relatively undemanding holiday with good accommodation. Thank you again Inntravel.
Lovely holiday in the main with just a few issues. Hotels good and we were made very welcome. We had very hot weather so didn't walk as much as we usually do but adapted some of the routes to make them shorter.
We enjoyed this holiday as it gave us the opportunity to explore the quiet side of Ibiza and the wonderful beaches on Formentera. The facilities, level of service and standard of food in both hotels was very good. The travel between the 2 locations was straight forward and worked well.
We chose to upgrade to Es Mares on Formentera. Whilst we were generally very happy with it, we would recommend requesting a room on the quiet side of the hotel as we experienced a fair amount of late night noise from the bar/restaurant opposite. On the plus side, we were able to make the most of the free bike hire available at the hotel; we cycled to different coasts on each day as it was really too hot to do the suggested walks.
A thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Relaxed atmosphere and warm and friendly reception at both Can Fuster and Hotel Sa Volta. The balcony at Can Fuster was ideal for relaxing after a walk, as was the swimming pool in the back garden. Especially enjoyed breakfast and dinner outdoors in the patio area. Recommended restaurants by Vincent were excellent value for money. Vista Alegre (ideal for lunch) and Sabores Naturales were just a short walk from Can Fuster with the latter serving delicious vegetarian cuisine. Roof top lounge and pool area at Hotel Sa Volta was very relaxing. Enjoyed lazy days on sandy beaches on Formentera with their beautiful clear water. Lots of restaurants to choose from for evening dining on Formentera, but one that we ate at on two occasions was La Cava. Seafood serving restaurant, very good tasty food with nice ethnic environment and great sea views. Need to get there early to be sure of a table. Transfers to and from the airport worked perfectly. Would highly recommend this holiday. Thank you Inntravel.
We had a fabulous holiday and loved all of the places we stayed. Would definitely recommend travelling by ferry between the islands. It was all very straight forward. Hope to return to most of the places we walked to in the future.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: These customers combined our A Taste of the Mediterranean (Menorca), Mallorca's Tramuntana Sierra, and Ibiza & Formentera holidays.
The restaurants we tried in San Juan were Cafe Giri where we had an excellent meal and the vegetarian one which was considerably cheaper but good.
On Formentera we were spoilt for choice. Cafe Miranda was excellent for lunch shortly after arriving - may be open in the evenigs now. A highlight was sipping our gin and tonics sitting up on the roof by the the pool. Also after the walk having lunch in the square in San Francesc - a delightful small town with a very good array of eateries and shops.
We really enjoyed this holiday.
This holiday was just what we needed, after a stressful time. Both locations were friendly and relaxed. Staff and managers could not have been more helpful. The locations were good. We would do this trip again without hesitation - and may do so next year, perhaps staying longer in each place.
Our highlight was our time in Sant Joan, combined with the circular walk to Sant Vicent. The authentic and rural feel of the village, the views over Ibiza, and the trails on that walk were a perfect introduction to the scenery and environment of the north-east.
