Another great holiday from Inntravel in an area we would not not normaly associate with walking! Although storm Alice provided some dramatic downpours and skies we were fortunate to dodge these and stayed dry. The two hotels used were very different but both were very welcoming, quiet and provided everything we needed.
The choice of places that were open to eat on Ibiza was somewhat limited but we had two excellent meals at Cafe Gigi, and the other two meals at Can Fuster although simple in comparison, were very good. On Formentera in Es Pujols there was a wide selection of restaurants open still, Timon (steaks) and Capri (fish) were very good and nearby.
We had to use taxis on Ibiza due to the lack of bus services at this time of year, in fact the service from Portinax was the only one we used. Santa Eulalia only seems to have a bus service for a couple of weeks of the Inntravel schedule. Perhaps also worth mentioning that the ferry tickets are open timed, the Inntravel times are just recommendations, and the tickets do include the Trasmapi car ferry as well as the Express boats.
Walking wise, we would recommend a side trip (150m each way) to the megalithic tomb of Ca Na Costa during the lagoon walk (Formentera walk 1). This is off to the left toward the lagoon in the section on page 87 beginning "Ignore minor paths off to L and R ...." On the main road is a rusted signpost for this, and it can also be seen on the supplied map as a lane ending in a dotted circle. It's fenced off but quite ornate and well worth a visit.
Staying for a couple of extra nights, we also took the bus to San Francesc and after having a look around the interesting town, continued NNW on the road passing two windmills, to the edge of the S'Estany des Peix smaller lagoon and continued anti-clockwise back toward the port. Excellent views toward the port and over the lagoon. Upon reaching the busy main road we crossed over and picked up the circular path around the lagoon (Walk1) clockwise back toward the port seeing a dozen flamingos in the salt pans. You can pick up a bus back to Es Pujols in the port. We used the downloaded map of Formentera from Wikiloc to do this - it shows the site of the windmills.
Walk 3 Formatera - For those staying in Es Pujols, rather than returning all the way to Sant Francesc on page 109 at "Turn L along this tarmac .... " there is the option of returning directly to Es Pujols by continuing SA on the track signposted Es Pujols. Continue SA until reaching a windmill which you pass round to rejoin the outward track from Es Pujols by turning R. Only slightly longer and saves the walk along the main road to San Francesc and the need for a bus.
As previously said, a very enjoyable holiday!
An enjoyable holiday with easy walking. Still very hot in October but be prepared for some torrential downpours and thunderstorms. All facilities and restaurants were still open but some were due to close mid October in Formentera. We added a couple of days in Ibiza old town which is beautiful and was surprisingly quiet while we were there. The only off-putting thing about travelling to Ibiza is the flight out - we experienced some appalling behaviour from some of the passengers which almost resulted in the plane being diverted to Toulouse.
Comimg to lovely swimming pools after feeling very sweaty. The simple delicious cooking at Can Fuster. The beauty of the islands. Catching morning ferry to Ibiza town on last day and exploring the town. Unexpected delight.

This was our first holiday with Inntravel and we were impressed with the whole experience. Meeting fellow Inntravellers, some of whom were veterans of using the company, to compare notes was a delightful bonus. We're already looking at the Inntravel brochure for ideas for next year's holiday.
This is a fabulous trip, great walks, biking, beaches, shopping and food are all a wonerdul expirience. We biked everywhere on Formentara, this enabled us to see more and have plenty of time for meals and time on the beaches.
This was a great holiday - highly recommended. Both hotels were friendly and welcoming. We especially liked Sa Volta with an evening swim in the Med just 100m away. It was still hot and humid in Sept so carrying extra water is a must. The swims at the end of the walks were all the more enjoyable.
TIPS: We found that using the old road from San Joan to Portinatx was ideal for walking - little lovely views and less hazardous than route detailed in notes. In Formentera we found the restaurants Pinatar and Casanita very good.
A really relaxing holiday, walks not too challenging in the heat, sea swimming every day. Bicycles were a great way to explore beautiful Formentera
My wife and I did the Inntravel walk on Ibiza about seven years ago when we stayed at three different hotels on the island. The diversion this time onto Formentera was an enjoyable addition and the walks on Ibiza eliminated a few rather dull slogs from our last visit.
A very relaxing holiday with so many walking options. Late Spring seems a perfect time to visit. Several highlights include a traditional wedding with music and dance, a diversion through the Hippy Market on account of a private function, and as we arrived in Ibiza on the ferry from Formentera, the world triathlon championships barring our route. With plenty of time for our flight we lunched in a restaurant close to the race end and watched the athletes of the world pass by!
A very relaxed and laid back vibe everywhere we went.
