Rügen – an Island Revealed

Around a glorious German holiday idyll
Your accommodation is a rewarding mix of comfortable and characterful hotels.
If you choose our Stralsund upgrade, one dinner is included, either on your first night or the second time you visit the city. Please advise us when booking your holiday if you would like this upgrade option.

PLEASE NOTE: most rooms in Austrian/German hotels are normally one large base with two mattresses/duvets. We refer to these as 'Austrian Twins' and they are locally regarded to serve requests for both double and twin bedded rooms. Separate twin beds or traditional double beds with one large mattress are rare and cannot be guaranteed.

Hotel am Jungfernstieg (3*), Stralsund

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Hotel am Jungfernstieg
This modern and friendly hotel is close to Stralsund’s railway station, and our spacious, well-appointed rooms offer views over the Altstadt – the atmospheric ‘Old Town’ of this Hanseatic League city. There is a large choice of places to eat out, and the centre is just a 15-minute walk away.

Hotel Scheelehof (4*), Stralsund

Optional upgrade
Meal arrangements: breakfast, plus dinner on one night

Hotel Scheelehof
The former home of Carl Scheele, the chemist who ‘discovered’ oxygen, the Scheelehof offers a beguiling blend of 14th-century, Hanseatic gabled architecture and a thoroughly modern sense of style and comfort. Situated close to the harbour in Stralsund’s atmospheric Old Town, its highly individual and impeccably tasteful rooms are spread across five interconnected historic buildings (three of which are former warehouses). It has a popular cellar bar and no fewer than three restaurants, including Zum Scheele, a Hanseatic-style dining room with lots of character.

Solthus am See (4*), Baabe

Meal arrangements: breakfast & dinner

Solthus am See
This traditional, reed-thatched building (actually a conjoined pair of houses) which overlooks the water in a particularly tranquil and idyllic corner of the island is a delightful place to stay. From your arrival by rowing boat, to your meals in the attractive Scandinavian style restaurant (or on the terrace in fine weather), you will feel blissfully ‘away from it all’. Modern bedrooms have either a balcony or terrace, and there is a small indoor pool with spa facilities – and even a cosy library – for guests to enjoy.

Panorama Hotel (4*), Lohme

Meal arrangements: breakfast & dinner

Panorama Hotel
The Panorama Hotel, run by hands-on Herr Ogilvie, is not all about “location, location, location”, but its stunning cliff-top outlook close to the Jasmund National Park certainly helps. Our included rooms provide glorious sea views from the adjoining annexe of Grey's Hotel; and there is a similar grandstand view from the hotel’s elegant restaurant (you can dine on the inviting terrace in warmer weather).

Hotel zur Alten Schmiede (3*), Poggenhof

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Hotel zur Alten Schmiede
Built on the site of a former smithy tucked away within a protected area that is renowned for birdwatching, the Hotel zur Alten Schmiede is a comparatively simple, yet logistical place to stay within easy reach of Schaprode and the ferry over to Hiddensee. The location is wonderfully quiet, with comfortable bedrooms and an outside terrace for warmer weather.

Hotel Honigmond (4*), Berlin

Optional add-on
Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Hotel Honigmond
Standing in a quiet side street, this small, tastefully furnished hotel is ideally located on the edge of the central Mitte area in what was East Berlin and is within walking distance of the main historic sights and a good choice of restaurants. The comfortable rooms are decorated in an attractive colonial style and are well equipped, with a hairdryer, safe, television, minibar and free wi-fi.
