The highlight was the Michelin mountain meal.  I am unsure if the Hotel (Edelweiss) would like to do it again for others or I would mention it for public use. What do you think? Any publicity is good publicity?  A close second were the Swiss lifts down from Rigi. I was scared of heights but not any more!  I was so captured by the view and experience - and the Swiss reputation for reliability - that I considered going back up to do it all again! Hotel Niderwald upgraded me to a lake-view room and I loved sitting on the patio and looking at the lake, birds, and ferries. The bed in Hotel Beccaris was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. A marvel. It really was luxe!

Fascinating holiday in a beautiful area that was new to us. Accommodation was generally very good, and arrangements were clear and worked well. Excellent food and wine. The only drawback is that we've now definitely developed a taste for Barolo wine - not exactly cheap, but we now think it can still be good value.

The Egyptian museum in Turin was excellent. The Royal Palace is certainly worth a visit. The snacks served with drinks in the bar were really good and the hotel was extremely comfortable. The staff recommended the Kipling restaurant and the Osteria degli Ottoni. Both very good and fairly close to the Hotel Sitea.

In Bra we really enjoyed the Osteria Murivecchi - part of the hotel ,and the Osteria La Pimpinella run by a delightful young couple. Serving excellent imaginative food.

The host of Albergo Cantine Ascheri was a larger than life character who spoke perfect English and had a good sense of humour.

The location of Villa Beccaris was beautiful and the room and service were very good. The hill from the village of Monforte dAlba back to the hotel was very challenging for us ( in our upper seventies). This limited our outings unless we took a taxi. These were quite expensive as the taxi had to come from another village. The meal provided on our second night  at restaurant Moda was good and the modern decor was amazing.

We recommend the Trattoria Pane e Vino in Chersaco. Very welcoming host. It may be necessary to pre book here as several groups appear to lunch here.

It was such a pleasure to be able to travel by public transport and to leave the car at home. Your co-ordination of the hotel bookings and of the transport between hotels was excellent and took all the stress out of our holiday. We learnt that we could rely on you and will not forget. We will be back for more!

I have included some tips in my response to the 'Booking with Inntravel" section. The fact that this response is quite extensive does not mean that we were unhappy with the holiday - far from it! This was our 15th holiday with Inntravel, and one of the best, if not the best.

Highlights?
The food - we have never eaten so consistently well, and both put on about 3kg in a week!
The wines
The charming and efficient Piedmontese
The Royal Apartents Apartments in Turin - totally over-the-top Rococo decoration withe everything possible covered in gold leaf
The very interesting talk and tour by Signor Ascheri (and the tasting run by his charming Mama)
The Barolo barrels
The view of vineyards and snow-capped mountains from Hotel Villa Beccaris
The food!
