Definitely recommend the Senja Husky adventure. Seeing the Northern lights from the lighthouse at Hamn was the icing on the cake.

Mrs A Watkins  Cowbridge January 2018

The obvious highlight was seeing the Northern Lights on 2 evenings; they were far more dramatic than we could have anticipated and remain  impossible to do justice in any description.

All the staff in the Hotel / Activities were very accommodating, engaging and friendly in a way that was totally non touristy.

We enjoyed the Northern Lights excursion and a Water safari. It may be helpful to point out that whales were much further out to sea and therefore not possible to see. I do not know if this is a seasonal issue or a significant change in local conditions.

The cost of the Water Safari was NOK2390 for 2 people. Everything is expensive in Norway; therefore it would be helpful to realise the cost of additional activities, again, so that people can budget appropriately. Given the length of stay at Hamn i Senja, I would also advise people to decide what activities they may wish to go on and book as soon as soon as possible as they do book up quickly.

This may seem a small point but everything in and around the hotel is informal and dictated by the weather; so eg. at evening dinner, many people who had been looking out for the Northern Lights by the Lighthouse came dressed with full weather kit and just took off a few layers.

Spectacular Northern Lights experience on our last evening making the trip very worthwhile. But even if we had been unlucky with the lights, the hotel food, service and location are excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed the short break but we wished we had spent our pre-arrival night at Tromso rather than near Heathrow Airport - the outward travel day was tiring. A stopover at Tromso on the way back is also recommended as there is lots to see.

Hamn was beautiful.  Great snow, friendly staff and northern lights to boot. We did the sea safari and were thrilled to see no less than 4 sea eagles.  The whales had moved on but it was a good excursion nontheless. The express boat journey between Harstad and Finnsnes was lovely - smashing scenery.

Mr P Day  Camberley February 2017

The resort treated us like house guests. All the staff went out of their way to be very friendly and helpful. We had two most enjoyable trips with Lars, one of the guides, and we did see the Northern Lights from their 'Lighthouse' - with a flask of hot chocolate they had supplied. We hope it does not get too popular as it would lose some of its charm - but perhaps this is unfair!

We had a wonderful few days in Hamn i Senja and Harstad. There wasn't much snow when we arrived so had an enjoyable sight seeing tour of the area around Hamn instead of snowshoeing. The lack of snow allowed us to do a short hike to a viewpoint above the harbour to enjoy the views over the hills and fjord. the hotel offers a number of trips which are worth budgeting for as they add a great deal to the experience (and there isn't a lot to do if you don't take up the organised events). We enjoyed a cod fishing trip out to sea, my wife caught 6 fish, and I only caught 6 fewer! The Wildlife Safari, again out to sea, is a must. We saw a golden eagle and three white tailed sea eagles. Watching the ever changing light and weather from the hotel and from a boat was quite an experience. The hotel is very comfortable and the staff are very friendly. The food is excellent, as is the local Northern Lights beer (from Tromso).

We spent most of the Sunday in Harstad on the way back. We were very fortunate to see inside the old church at Trondenes, which is about a 40 minute walk each way from the Thon Hotel (ask for directions locally), and is next to the Trondenes Historical Centre. We were fortunate to meet the minister of the church who arranged for us to be shown inside (yes, people are that friendly there) but even if the church is closed the Historical Centre should be good (we ran out of time unfortunately) and the site of the WW2 POW Camp (for Russians) nearby is quite moving. Oh yes, nearly forgot....the clouds finally cleared so we did see the Northern Lights on our last evening at Hamn i Senja!
