Holidays in Catalonia

In Catalonia, rugged green mountains meet unspoiled sandy coves, where inviting waterfront restaurant serve up wonderfully fresh seafood. There is a long tradition of hospitality here, and a strong sense of history – in the beautifully preserved medieval villages; the museums dedicated to local artist, Salvador Dalí; and the fascinating cities of Girona and Barcelona.

Catalonia has many different faces

In the north, the rugged peaks and glacial lakes of the Pyrenees give way to the wooded, volcanic hills of the Garrotxa, where ancient trails lead through flower-filled meadows and past the isolated ruins of Romanesque chapels and remote farmsteads.
Below these lies the rolling Empordà plain. Dotted with medieval villages of honey-coloured stone, this stretches to meet the Costa Brava with its whitewashed fishing villages and sandy bays. These are corners which feel very different in character to the vibrant capital, Barcelona, and are perfect for leisurely exploration.
