Cycle at your own pace from one delightful hotel to the next on a self-guided cycling holiday in the Loire. We transfer your luggage, and supply you with our highly reliable route notes and a high-quality bike, leaving you free to enjoy the elegant châteaux.
Graceful châteaux, a rich history, and strong wine-making traditions, mean that our cycling holidays in the Loire are about more than cycling. These being Slow holidays, we encourage you to stop to visit châteaux, museums and vineyards as the mood takes you – you’re not part of a group, and have no luggage (we transfer your bags to the next hand-picked hotel), so make the most of it, following our trusted route notes at your own pace.
One of the main reasons for choosing a Loire Valley cycling holiday is the châteaux, so we’ve made sure that our route takes in a good variety: turreted Azay-le-Rideau, the romantic château of Ussé, which inspired the tale of Sleeping Beauty, and the imposing castle of Chinon all feature on our Châteaux of the Loire cycling holiday.
To give you a good idea of how we can tailor our trips to your individual requirements, take a look at the section of the website specifically devoted to travellers from outside the UK.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to get the low-down on Inntravel holidays from someone who has first-hand experience, you can email Phil Wise. Based in California, Phil has taken many trips with us over the years, and will be happy to give you general information about travelling to Europe and the overall Inntravel holiday experience from an American perspective.
Are our cycling holidays in the Loire right for you?
If you’re looking for a particularly easy cycling holiday, the Loire Valley is an excellent choice, as the terrain is generally flat, electric (e-)bikes are available, and the numerous places of interest provide the perfect excuse for frequent breaks. To be sure that they are right for you, check our grading system below. (Our grading system assumes you are using a ‘regular’ bike, so if you choose an e-bike, bear in mind that the cycling will be considerably easier.)
Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents.
Easy-to-moderate cycling featuring undulating routes with more frequent short ascents, and a mix of shorter and longer days.
Moderate cycling with some longer, steady uphill sections, and longer days.
Fairly strenuous cycling featuring longer days with some sustained climbs.
Cycling holidays in the Loire, the Inntravel way
Romantic landscapes; charming, family-run hotels chosen by us for their hospitality; and flavoursome local cuisine. These are the hallmarks of Inntravel holidays, and our cycling holidays in the Loire are no different.
Route notes you can trust
We pride ourselves on providing accurate, comprehensive route guides, which we update constantly so that you can have complete confidence in them. While steering you from A to B, they’ll fill you in about places of interest and local culture, so that you enjoy the richest possible holiday experience – all at your own pace.
Your holiday, your choice
Independent, non-group holidays enable you to stay in smaller, one-of-a-kind hotels, and plan each day to suit you. The benefits don’t stop there. You can choose when to start, if or at which hotels to add extra nights, and whether to travel to your holiday by air, rail or ferry – we’ll book travel arrangements tailored to your requirements.
We’ve been offering holidays since 1984 and have built up a wealth of experience. Whenever you contact us, you’ll deal with friendly experts who share a passion for travel and who have stayed in our featured hotels and cycled our routes. They’ll be delighted to answer your queries and help you plan your perfect holiday.
