30 years of friendship

Marie-Louise Amport, 23 December, 2025
Inntravel destination expert, Marie-Louise, recently spent some time in the Austrian Tyrol – where she caught up with one of our longest-serving hoteliers, Daniela Heidkamp of the Inntaler Hof.

2026 marks 30 years since we first started working with Daniela and her family, so what better moment to delve deeper into everything that makes their hotel – and our relationship – so special?
Shall we begin with a description of your wonderful hotel, Daniela?
Yes, with pleasure. The Inntaler Hof started life as a farm and is now a 4-star hotel run by the fourth generation of my family.

We’re lucky to have a such a special setting – in Mösern, at the heart of the Austrian Tyrol, on a 1,250-metre-high plateau with magnificent views over the Inn Valley and surrounding mountains. The plateau is very open and flat, ideal for hiking in all seasons.
As well as location, what else is special about your hotel?
I think it’s the people – those working and those visiting. I find that Inntravel customers value our service the most, as we focus on the individual, striving to give them the feeling of familiarity, and remembering them when they return for a repeat stay. We always ask how often they’ve explored with Inntravel and most of them tell us that they’ve used the company for many years and have always had a great experience. So, while the facilities etc. are important, I think it’s the people that make the difference.
Our customers always comment on the food – how great it is and how much they liked it. Is there a dish that you would recommend?
Not so much one dish... It’s more that we always feature great produce from the local area and try to arrange special dishes in a modern way. Sometimes, we’ll have a European theme, or perhaps our inspiration may come from farther afield, but the ingredients are always seasonal and local. Most of the best dishes we keep in the weekly menu though.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
We do – if guests request another dish, we can cater for this, and all the allergy information can be found on the menu.
Can you guess our customers’ other favourite place in the hotel?
Our spa? I’m very proud of it. We have a superb masseur, Thomas, who has been with us for 10 years. You don’t even need to tell him which treatment you need – he immediately sees which area of your body needs some focus!
Sounds wonderful... So, moving beyond the hotel – what would you say is the best way to explore the local area?
In the Tyrol, we have a great visitor’s card scheme* which gives free access to local trains and buses – opening up a range of flexible walking routes. You can also use public transport to head up high, for example to the Rosshütte restaurant with its incredible, panoramic views, or to a neighbouring town or city like Seefeld or Innsbruck.

In the colder months, it’s magical to explore on snowshoes, or go cross-country skiing through this wintry wonderland. There are so many possibilities!

*A visitor’s card is included for both of our single-centre Mösern holidays.
Would you describe the local walking routes as challenging?
I would say there are options for everyone. And a real positive is that many of our routes remain very enjoyable even in July and August – given they explore lovely, shaded valleys and woodland routes.
And we know that, if customers don’t want to walk, there are plenty of sightseeing options. You’ve already mentioned a few – any other recommendations?
Yes, Mittenwald is a charming Bavarian town, known for its frescoed houses and violin-making history. It’s easy to get there by public transport, and there are so many things to do whatever the weather.
When would you say is the best time to visit Mösern?
I love it here in autumn – when the trees are starting to change colour. Advent is also a special time – when everything is beautifully decorated for Christmas but before the season’s main visitors arrive.

For winter walking, February is my favourite month – longer days and not quite so cold as January!
Just a couple of final questions before we finish. Do you have any new developments coming up at the Inntaler Hof?
The biggest challenge for me at the moment is thinking about how we can transform the business with the next generation in mind – and adapt it to their ideas.
And how would you describe working with Inntravel?
With Inntravel it’s not just a partnership, it’s a friendship. All our employees share the same feeling; we know the needs of your customers so well and we always do our best to deliver a wonderful holiday for them.
