Author and nature campaigner Mary Colwell decides to take on her own pilgrimage across northern Spain in the depths of winter and the depths of Covid in 2020. Thus, The Gathering Place is a story of stark, empty landscapes and a world in flux, rather than busy trails and buzzing albergues.
