Bustling Cities & Serene Fjords

Oslo, Bergen & Sognefjord
You stay in comfortable hotels where you will find a warm welcome. Norwegian hotels do not have star ratings, but those in our selection are typically of 3- or 4-star standard. Your stays in Oslo and Bergen are on a bed-and-breakfast basis so that you can take your pick of the many restaurants.

Hotel Bristol, Oslo

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Hotel Bristol
This elegant hotel exudes an air of calm opulence, and there is a feeling of Edwardian gentility about the reception and lounge areas. The well-equipped bedrooms are furnished in a classical style, with solid wood furniture, while the extensive buffet breakfast – the highlight of your stay – sets you up well for a day’s exploration. The main sights are all within easy walking distance.

Kvikne’s Hotel, Balestrand

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Kvikne’s Hotel
This large hotel first opened its doors in the 18th century and has been run by the present owners’ family since 1877. Surrounded by pleasant gardens and framed by wooded slopes, it sits right on the shores of the fjord. The atmospheric lounges (one of which is furnished with finely carved ‘dragon-style’ furniture) and high-ceilinged restaurant make the most of the impressive views. You can also enjoy the vista from your bedroom; we include fjord-view rooms with a balcony in the modern building. For extra atmosphere, you can upgrade to a fjord-view room (without a balcony) in the historic part of the hotel.

Fjærland Fjordstue, Fjærland

Meal arrangements: dinner & breakfast

Fjærland Fjordstue
Built in 1937 and situated right on the fjordside, the Fjaerland Fjordstue has wonderful views down the fjord from the restaurant and some of the bedrooms. Originally built as a guesthouse, it became a hotel during the 1980s, and nowadays is run by Bård and Linda Huseby. The bedrooms are all simply furnished but are individually decorated in keeping with the style of the house. The three-course evening dinners incorporate ingredients sourced from the local area, including fish from the fjord and herbs from the garden. Bård also brews his own beer!

Clarion Hotel Admiral, Bergen

Meal arrangements: breakfast only

Clarion Hotel Admiral
Situated right on the water’s edge overlooking the Bryggen, this hotel is housed in a historic warehouse dating from 1904 and is within easy walking distance of all the main sites in this fjordside city. The modern twin or double bedrooms are decorated in warm colours and should you wish to have a view over the water, you can upgrade to a superior or deluxe room. Breakfast is taken in the restaurant overlooking the Bryggen and in warm weather you can even eat out on the terrace over the water.
