Casas Canarias on La Isla Bonita

La Palma is a very beautiful island with diverse scenery, including very obvious evidence of the 2021 volcanic eruption. The included guided tour to the volvano is fascinating and much recommended. There are many opportunities for walking but unfortunately we were unable to do some of our planned walks due to the unusually stormy weather. The walking (and indeed the driving) is not for the fainthearted and many routes involve very steep ascents or descents. The Inntravel walking notes are, as always, very detailed and accurate and the walks are generally well signposted or marked. We stayed in the cottage La Verada in the northwest of the island which has a specatcular view of the ocean. The owner is a lovely friendly lady but does not speak any English and sadly as we do not speak Spanish, it was difficult to converse! It would be helpful if there were some instructions in the cottage in English regarding the equipment, as this would have avoided us having to contact Inntravel when there was a power cut! All in all this is a great holiday for independent walkers.
