Holidays in France's lesser-known corners

Secluded sandy bays and a wild, pink-hued coastline; tranquil, pastoral landscapes that have borne witness to momentous historical events; seafood and sunshine; sleepy rivers; world-renowned vineyards; wondrous mountain landscapes… France is varied and captivating – with something for everyone, no matter which corner you visit.

France – an intriguing land

You don’t have to travel far beyond the Channel ports to feel like you are in the heart of rural France. Venture further, though, and you will discover a very varied country in terms of its culture, history, gastronomy and landscapes.
These range from the sandy bays of Brittany to the vineyards and enchanting villages of Burgundy; and from the fertile, gently rolling hills of Normandy to the rugged mountains of the Auvergne and Cévennes. Not forgetting, of course, the sleepy River Tarn which meanders slowly past medieval villages and cork-oak woods, nor the remarkably engineered Canal du Midi, which leads from spectacular Carcassonne to the glittering waters of the Mediterranean.
