La Soffitta Renovatio is a great restaurant near the Vatican/St Peter's - a very welcome dinner after an intense tour. Interesting food, good service and reasonably priced.
We all loved Marettimo in Sicily - the accommodation, the walks, the quiet village, very relaxing. Hotel Ristorante Delle Sirene, Sorrento Peninsula, a very close second. It was wonderful to hear of the generations involved in the hotel and eat the superbly prepared home grown produce - a definite highlight. In contrast we ate lunch at the restaurant at Recommone Bay - a stunning setting but the food was expensive and disappointing.
The driver Paulo who picked us up from Naples airport was exceptional - not only did he patiently wait for our bags to arrive (3-4 hr wait) but then had to deal with a car accident in one of the tunnels causing a huge tailback. His alternative route was blocked by a local festival forcing him to find yet another route to Positano. Paulo was polite and courteous throughout, his driving skills at all times were excellent and he even found a toilet stop for our daughter, personally escorting her across a very busy road to a lovely hotel so she could use their facilities!
INNTRAVEL NOTE: These customers combined Temples, Coast & Egadi Islands, our Discover Journey in Sicily, with our walk, The Sorrento Peninsula, plus city add-ons in Rome and Palermo
Highlights were the profusion of wild flowers everywhere in the fields. The view from Hotel de la Fortezza Sorano was spectacular. We loved Pitigliano and can recommend Trattoria San Rocco in Piazza Republica for lunch. In Rome, Ristorante Rossini just down the road from Hotel Modigliani was good value as an alternative to Osteria Barberini which was fully booked on our arrival night. We also tried La Scala nearby on our second night as recommended by Hotel Modigliani
INNTRAVEL NOTE: These customers combined our A Stroll Through History walk with a stay in Rome.
Great location and we really enjoyed the Inntravel walk.
Reception at hotel were very helpful and suggested a taxi to our tour at the Vatican then we could walk back. It was good advice as it's a long day.
Loved Rome; real quality of buildings art and artefacts.

Fantastic position of hotel in Rome, our excellent room was just 100metres from the mighty Pantheon, roof terrace lovely and peaceful after a full day. Thoroughly enjoyed our walking tours in Bologna and Rome.

We enjoyed all the holiday. The walking, the accommodation and the food. We saw some wonderful places. The weather was mainly good and just right for walking. If anything Rome was a bit of a culture shock after such a quiet week of walking. We needed stamina in Rome as it is so busy after a quiet week when we hardly saw another person until we reached our accommodation.

As always on an Inntravel holiday, one has little experiences from capuccino in tiny bars served by smiling Nonnas in tiny villages to smiles from the Pope's little Fiat with the Pope inside stopping to let you across the road in Rome.
