We did some beautiful walks on this holiday. Highlights were the Rio Dobra walk; the high meadows walk; our day on Vega Beach and the excellent food at Posada del Valle which was outstanding. We loved the proximity of the mountains to the sea - a real contrast.
Some of the walks provided by Nigel are a little light on detail and therefore having a map is important if they choose to do one of those.
The area is very weather dependent e.g. high up can be shrouded in mist so be prepared to change plans at short notice.
The Rio Dobra walk definitely needs walking shoes and also 'beach shoes' for the swimming pool at the end.
The Museo des Belle Artes in Oviedo is closed Sunday afternoons and all day Monday so pick carefully which dates to stay there.
