Our diligently planned routes (explained in easy-to-read notes) are short enough that you don’t have to rush. And because you have no group and no luggage (we take care of that), you can ad-lib, making impromptu stops at viewpoints and places of interest, all of which makes for a memorable Italian cycling holiday.

Where to go cycling in Italy

Our selection of Italian cycling holidays not only includes routes in Sicily, southern Italy, Tuscany and the Italian Alps, but also in Lombardy and the Veneto in the north, where our cycling holiday starts in Mantova, a Renaissance gem, and leads around the southern shores of Lake Garda to romantic Verona. We also visit Emilia Romagna, Italy’s most gastronomic region, where we savour the cuisine, culture and countryside as we cycle from Parma to Modena.

How our Italian cycling holidays are graded

Having offered bike holidays in Europe since the late 1980s, we are experts in Italian cycling holidays, and have something for all levels of ‘amateur’. To be sure of choosing the Italian cycling holiday that is right for you, read how we grade them below, or upgrade to an electric (e-)bike to increase your options. (Our grading system assumes you are using a ‘regular’ bike, so if you choose an e-bike, you'll find the cycling considerably easier.)
  • Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents.
  • Easy-to-moderate cycling featuring undulating routes with more frequent short ascents, and a mix of shorter and longer days.
  • Moderate cycling with some longer, steady uphill sections, and longer days.
  • Fairly strenuous cycling featuring longer days with some sustained climbs. (We don't currently have any holidays at this level.)
