There’s a reason we often refer to our centred walking holidays as ‘discovery walks’: they give you the chance to really get to know the area you are visiting. We choose one or two superbly located hotels and provide carefully compiled route notes for a variety of walks that you can access either from the door or by using public transport and/or taxis. The great advantage of this is the flexibility – you can take your pick of the walks depending on how you feel.
Of course, if you don’t feel like walking at all, you needn’t – the location of our hand-picked hotels usually means that there is plenty to see and do in the area besides walking (we make suggestions in your information pack), or you could simply relax in the hotel lounge with a good book.

  • Generally easy walking with few ascents / descents, but perhaps the occasional long day.
  • Easy-to-moderate walking with some ascents / descents, and occasional longer days.
  • Moderate walking on varied terrain, with some long days and regular ascents / descents.
  • Moderate-to-challenging walking on more rugged terrain with significant ascents / descents on most days. Compass skills may be required (check the individual holiday).
  • Challenging hikes, featuring long days with significant ascent / descent on challenging terrain. Compass skills may be required.
  • Choice of easier or harder routes, so that you can tailor most days to your requirements.
