Surrounded by idyllic landscapes of apple orchards, dovecotes and half-timbered farms, hotels in Normandy – France’s capital of cider production, also famed for its cheeses, calvados and creamy dishes – are great for romantic getaways or special weekends. By day you can explore the timeless scenery, delving into the region’s rich history, and in the evening you can indulge in sublime cuisine.
We were bowled over by this tiny, sleepy little village… but even better was the timbered auberge itself – full of nooks and crannies and offering superb food and wine – plus delicious Norman cider! This is one of those great romantic getaways – an olde-worlde sort of place – and one of Inntravel’s best hotels in Normandy, France’s equivalent to Dorset.
