Blue skies in Alicante

Vultures in AlicanteIt may be grey all over the UK, but it's a completely different story in southern Spain. These pictures were actually taken yesterday in the mountains of Alicante - blue skies as far as the eye can see and not a cloud in sight.
It's a great place to go at this time of year (as we reported in a previous blog) - the perfect antidote to a British winter, which, let's face it, can often leave a lot to be desired. So, when it comes to the 'winter blues', which version do you prefer?

Wonderful walking in AlicanteThe quiet mountains of Alicante are great for walking, rugged in places, yet hugely rewarding with fabulous views from the high ridges. Welcoming, friendly locals will encourage you to slow down and rest awhile, tempting you with a refreshing drink or tasty bite to eat as you pass through pretty hamlets and colourful hill-top towns. And don't forget - spring comes early in this region - the blossom of the almond trees will soon be painting the hillsides, a glorious pink - a sight not to be missed. Tempted? (I am...)
