This incredible rail journey links two of Norway’s most exciting cities. Travelling over the spectacular Hardangervidda Plateau, you follow in the footsteps of Shackleton and Nansen – all from the comfort of your train seat.
It is well worth making the excursion to Flåm while you’re in Geilo. It’s several years since I made the journey, yet I can still clearly remember the drama of the scenery as the train descends some 850 metres over the course of just 20 kilometres.

This is a very varied holiday, with a full day to explore both Oslo and Bergen, which are very different in character. The journey between the two is broken with three nights in the mountains in the friendly village of Geilo, renowned for its relaxed atmosphere and winter activities. Here, you have the chance to try out cross-country skiing, ice-skating or even ice-fishing, or to experience the dramatic rail journey through the Flåm Valley.
