A very enjoyable holiday despite unexpectedly high temperatures and huge numbers of tourists when we thought October would be cooler and quieter! The three centre holiday gives you a chance to enjoy villages other than Soller (which was heaving)! Staying at Ca’s Curial was a haven of peace – away from the centre of Soller – and the paella prepared by the owner’s mother was a real treat. We can really recommend eating at Es Roquissar in the square by the monastery in Valldemossa but you need to be lucky as they don’t take reservations!
In general, we found the walking was quite hard work due to the very rocky paths – more grade 2 than grade one! We didn’t feel able to do the long Cuber walk on the first day due to a rather tiring outward journey but whilst in Soller discovered we could take the Cami Vell (the old way) from Biniaraix – an adventurous path which takes you high up one side of the gorge and joins the Carthaginian Steps descending back to the village – a stunning walk and definitely a highlight – we were surprised at the amount of green vegetation in the gorge despite the dry summer – absolutely beautiful! The walk to Cala Tuent was another highlight – especially through the ancient olive groves in the cool of the morning and the views from the coastal path – but essential to book the boat back in advance!
A warning – when moving on to Valldemossa, make sure you get in the bus queue (or go to get a taxi) as soon as you reach Deia. Despite the large bus many people were left behind with a long wait for the next one.
A final tip – if travelling in October, try to avoid the day of the local annual car race – all roads are closed which makes some of the walks impossible and there is no escape from the noise which echoes around the whole valley….. We’d prefer to be able to hear the birds singing!
Mallorca did not disappoint. Every walk was more beautiful than the last with the delicious food and wine topping off the end of each rewarding day of hiking. Though the hiking difficulty is rated as a 1-2, I would lean very heavily towards the 2 category as most of the walks were pretty challenging. I highly recommend staying in Palma for a couple of days as well. Lovely city.

We very much enjoyed walking in the mountains of Mallorca, don't miss the walk from the reservoir it is well worth the taxi ride to the start. Although the hiking trails are well used they provide peace and tranquility away from bustle of the towns and villages.
The ride to the caves from Alcaufar Vell is not to be missed, the archaeology is fascinating and most of the sites are free, the Roman mosiac is amazing as are several of the settlements. It is possible to take your bike around other trails at Es Grau, those around the lakes side provide excellent bird watching.

The walk from Cuber to Fornalutx was probably the highlight of the holiday, however all the walks were very good.
On day 2 for the walk from Fornalutx to Soller, do stop at the restaurant at the top as the views are spectacular.
We would suggest leaving early for the walk from Soller to Deia as Deia is very crowded and it isn't easy to find somewhere to eat or indeed get a taxi.
We can highly recommend the following restaurants as suggested in your documentation Ca'n Pintxo in Soller and Celler Sa Premsa in Palma. In Valdemossa Troya restaurant is excellent with a cool breeze as it is overlooking the valley.
In all the villages it is busy during the day with day trippers but in the evenings they are quieter and there was not a problem getting tables. It is worth noting that many restaurants close one day a week.
An additional point is that even thought the weather was hot, majority of the walks had a great deal of shade which was welcome.
We were constantly amazed by the spectacular views and the winding well maintained ancient paths through the mountains.
We have previously taken many walking and cycling holidays with Inntravel, but this is the first where we've walked every day. Not too demanding for us 70 year olds! We did wonder if we'd make it to the end after the long steep descent on the first day. Lovely area and friendly people. Especially enjoyed the final day.
Wonderful weather 23-28 degrees everyday. No rain.
TIPS:
Food: Although Ca'n Pinxto in Soller was recommended - we found the tapas very small and very expensive - 4 tapas and 2 glasses of wine = 90 euros. So we wouldn't recommend it. In Fornalutz we ate well at Cafe Med, and Es Turo was excellent. In Valldemossa, we had the best meal of our holiday at Es Toller. Innovative Cuisine. A note for all is that in many cases you need to book restuarants as they fill up very fast.
Other: Take care in Deia. The main street is narrow, very busy and dangerous. Getting to Valldemossa is difficult - taxis are few, and buses are full on arrival. The phone number for Paco from Escorca is wrong. And return cost was 86 Euros.
Favourite walks: Cuber reservoir, Cala Tuent, Puig Gros
This was our first trip to Majorca and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. We were confident that Inntravel would put together a good itinerary and, true to our previous experience with Inntravel, it worked really well for us. We were able to build in an occasional alteration to the walks to suit our purposes. The choice of locations provided an opportunity to see some of the lovely villages in this part of Majorca and the unspoilt countryside.
Definitely need good walking shoes for a lot of the walks as the paths were cobbled & not even. But what a great variety of walks we did - lots of hills climbed & beautiful views.
Highlights were the scenery of the walks, the stay at hotel Ca's Curial and the food at the places we ate all within easy walking distance of the hotels.
Loved our holiday in Mallorca. This was our 8th Inntravel holiday and one of our best, made better by the excellent weather. Loved the walk down from the Cuber reservoir, however the descent down the Biniaraix gorge is very hard on the knees (about 900m) - be warned. The stones would probably be slippery in the rain too. Can recommend the black paella at Es Turo in Fornalutx. Lovely views, excellent food and wine. Although the climb to Puig Gros on the last day is hard, (top end of a grade 2 walk in our opinion), it is worth it. The views from the summit are amazing and you can see where you have walked on the preceding days. Valldemossa is buzzing in the day with coach parties, but be aware that many of the cafes close early once they have gone home. We ate very well at the traditional Mallorcan restaurant just up from the hotel - No 8 - it is on the first floor on the opposite side of the road - no menu on display outside - we would not have known it was a restaurant unless Gonzalo had told us. Does not open until 8pm and you walk through what looks like someone's hall. Portions are very large. Can also recommend the food at Es Roquissar in the monastery square opposite the Chopin museum. The dishes do not come in any order - they come when they are ready. Plenty of choice of wine by the glass too. Would return to Mallorca in a heartbeat. Thank you Inntravel - we love your holidays.
We had a fantastic week discovering this beautiful region. The unexpectedly hot Sept weather (peaking at 36 degrees) prevented us from undertaking the two longest walks, but the shorter walks were most rewarding. We were glad to have hiking boots for the terrain but didn't need our poles. Cafe Med (Fornalutx) was exceptional and well worth booking ahead. Luna 36 (Soller) was also brilliant. We loved the delicious Turkish food at Troya (Valldemossa) where there's an amazing view. All these provided very well for a gluten free diet, as did the hotels.
There was lots to see in Valldemossa which would easily warrant a day for the long walk and a day to for local sightseeing. Gelati Mossa has the most amazing ice creams.
Local buses were easy to use (though Covid masks required).

We greatly enjoyed this walking holiday despite the twin challenges of the unseasonally high temperatures in the low to mid 30's and our advancing years 75+.
Best walks were Cuber Lake to Fornalutx returning via Binibassi. Also the Cala Tuent walk taking the boat back along the coast but with the caveat to take the path direct to the beach and boat jetty rather than the very circuitous road!
The views of mountains and the Med were wonderful and worth the uphill walking. We think it wouild be good to warn customers that hotel front doors might be locked. After a long journey or tiring walk the last thing you need is a shut door! The receptionist at Soller was extremely helpful with tips on the best (and worst) bakers and how to get the most out of Valldemossa when we got there. She really went out of her way to help us have a good time here.
Great walking - challenging in places - and good range of locations. Puig Gros was a highlight - above the tree line, and looking over the clouds!
This was our first trip with Inntravel after a gap of a few years due to circumstances beyond our control, i.e. Covid-19. We were delighted that the standard of the trip was well up to our previous Inntravel experience; indeed, the overall standard of the hotels was better than previous trips.
The walks were good albeit tiring due to a lot of cobbled surfaces - but the unseasonal May temperatures of 30°+ didn't help! The route instructions, as always, were excellent. The highlights for us were the last two days, i.e. from Soller to Deia and the Puig Gros circuit from Valldemossa. This last circuit, although on paper the hardest walk of the week with the greatest ascent/descent, was relatively easy with good walking conditions and steady climbs.
Other highlights on the walks included listening to many nightingales (if only with one fleeting sighting) and hoopoes.
All three hotels were delightful in their own way, and all staff helpful and friendly. Ca’l Bisbe was a particularly welcome calm respite from the bustle of Soller, so much so that we ate there most nights. Our room at Es Petit in Valldemossa had a terrace with an excellent view, ideal for relaxing after a walk - as were the pools at Fornalutx Petit Hotel and Ca’l Bisbe. The taxi transfers from/to the airport by Antonio worked perfectly.
All the more highly recommended restaurants (e.g. Cafe Med in Fornalutx) seemed to require booking about a week in advance. Of those we did manage to book with difficulty a few days ahead, Cafe Molon in Fornalutx and Es Taller in Valldemossa were the highlights in addition to Hotel Ca’l Bisbe. Booking restaurants prior to departure would be a good idea.
The location and type of hotels picked by Inntravel for this holiday added to our enjoyment of the holiday, the views were amazing.
The 360 degree view from Puig Gros, the high point of the final walk, plus the opportunity to see the swallowtails hilltopping whilst having a well earned picnic break.
Breathtaking views on wonderful walks. Some demanding downhill sections. Orange and lemon trees beautiful. Food at Cafe Med in Fornalutz excellent- so fresh! Also great food at La Luna in Soller, Es Taller in Valdemossa and Kingfisher in Port de Soller.

Our first trip with Inntravel. We found it a very professional organisation - and the staff in various establishments very friendly and helpful. The walks were quite demanding but beautiful especially out to Tuente - with return by boat, and Valdemossa circular walk views. I am not super fit (70 this week ) but managed. We were very lucky with the weather as well. A really restorative experience.
I enjoyed very much the location and structure of the trip. The planning took place without any inconvenience to myself and the suggested walks were accessible and enjoyable with beautiful views. The hotels were wonderful and I would highly recommend them. The overall price was high, and for some it may be worth considering cheaper accommodations, but you do pay for what you get in terms of service and lodgings.
Structure of package allows walking days to alternate with local exploration, better than having to walk on each day.
Worth making restaurant reservations at this time of year.
Early flight out allowed more time at Fornalutx, good plan.
We had a really good week and enjoyed being in the Serre de Tramuntana region. We were unlucky with the weather, lots of cloud and cold winds and we hardly saw blue sky or any clear views so we will plan to return some time to get the full experience. The hotels in Soller and Valldemossa were very good. Soller is an excellent base for walks and other trips due to the efficient train and bus services. There are plenty of choices of restaurants in all villages. In Soller we ate at Casa Alvaro and Luna 36 (very good but expensive). In Valldemossa Es Taller (good fun in old car workshop) and La Posada. In Fornalutx we found a welcoming cafe on the square and Es Turo. We have already recommended this holiday to others.
A good way to discover new areas using pre-planned routes. Very accurate route descriptions so little chance of getting lost. Also great way to meet people as all Inntravel customers are staying in the same hotels and following the same routes. Will book this type of holiday again.
